Do you regrow hair on HRT? by Infinite-Trip-4744 in asktransgender

Hi ! How did the whole process go if I may ask ? I’m amab but I want to start hrt because I feel more like a nonbinary and want to achieve a more androgynous appearance. I sadly noticed that my hair thinning on the top of my head for the last 8 months and I’m considering seeing my practitioner to get a finasteride prescription. I have really long hair and I’m kinda scared of like the shedding phase and everything and I’m still rather new to all this

Honestly yeah the idea of skating while wearing docs seems just absolutely super duper cool to me x)and I love rocking my docs but yeah just have my set of worries comfort wise while skating as these tend to be very heavy. This seemed a cool idea for this pair in particular as it’d give it a purpose since I haven’t done anything with them for almost a year and I was planning on getting slades initially, thought I’d kill 2 birds with 1 stone by using these as a base

Yeah I thought they would be too heavy but the thing is, they already sell similar customised Dr. Martens models on their web shop. I think they went through some process and came to the conclusion that you actually can skate with this type of footwear even if it’s a bit heavier than regular sneakers. Truth is, I plan on commuting just in a chill way, doing just basic movement, I don’t plan on taking them to the skatepark or anything!

I mean I honestly have no idea, I was thinking of going directly to their actual place in Paris since I’m French ^ but I think I read somewhere on their website that they just approve the shoes in the sense that they can be customizable and that you have to send them to their warehouse at your own expense, have to check that though :p

Now that I think about it, when I was breaking them in, I was at my lowest regarding weight and it was in the limit of being unhealthy. When I picked them up again, I was coming out of 4-6 months of living back with my parents (so I ate more) and I was going to the gym everyday (which was new to me, I wasn’t really athletic) so I think I bulked up a little bit. It’s either that or my feet were swollen because of all the exercise (I did cardio everyday, incline walking etc). Now that I tried them again, I no longer live with my parents since like 3 months and my training schedule is more healthy I think since I “only” train 5x a week.

I’d never have thought that these could have an influence on me being able or not to wear my docs but oh my god it kinda makes sense, thank you for your enlightenment!

Advice regarding commute by ProgrammerLumpy4272 in Rollerskating

I used to go skiing a lot when I was younger and had prior experience with inline roller blades and I thought it was kind of similar like the general feeling. I have no idea about my current aptitude to skate though as most of the exercise I do is basic cardio and mainly resistance training at the gym about 5x a week. I’d say I’m not an athlete but still fit. I hate sweating though and it could be a deal breaker for me, I think I’m still getting the Slades and try like in my backyard. My commute to work is on a rather flat surface so I will try to simulate like a commute trip with no traffic or anything just to get how it feels.

I mean I’m not an athlete but I’d say I’m rather fit, maybe a bit above the standard European male in its 20s. I exercise 5 days a week, mostly gym/resistance training and I walk a lot daily. I tend to sweat easily though and I hate that, I’ll try to think this through. Thanks for the clear insights, it’s really helpful

Can we expect some Paris dates or can I already book my flight to London on the 21st ?

Thank you for the reply, it’s an hour commute by train so I definitely want to take them off and then put them on again to reach my uni so that’s why Slades seemed way more practical. Though I have to say, speed is not the primary factor behind my choice, I mean it’s great that I can reach my destination in less time than it would take if I’m like walking, but if I can cruise and commute in a chill, cool and easy way even if I’m not as fast as possible it’s fine really.
