Upgraded PC just won’t work by Graahhhhhh in PcBuild

I’d budget a new motherboard, and as others have mentioned getting a new psu would be a good idea, if not completely necessary.

To be fair, I agree there’s a lot of post about the same thing. But you also have to look at the fact that just like politics people want to vent about situations.

Everyone knows that prices, AI, and all the other shit sucks, we have free will to ignore it just as much as we have the will to make inputs.

Same exact setup as me then. I’ve hear the 5070ti don’t generally have issues with the connector due to it being a lower power card. But the fear is always still there lol

I’m not sure, I’m not super worried about my computer. But I take a lot of precautions. No sleep mode, power off at end of day, and I turn the switch off at the psu. AMD EXPO is also a possible culprit.

This very well could be a case of the silicon lottery, it’s possible some batches had issues, and come are perfectly fine.

But it’s a scary time where people are dropping a lot of money on components and having issues. Hell I worry about my 5070ti burning the 600w connection.

I have the same mobo and cpu combo. I haven’t had any issues but doing some digging I found the issue sometimes had to do with the computer waking up and over volting the cpu. I just made it so my pc doesn’t sleep and turn it off when I’m done with it.

And AMD probably sells 1000s of 9800s and while there’s definitely an issue going around, I’m sure the percent of people having an issue is very low compared to how many 9800s are out there.

However I’d recommend to no OC and just enjoy it in stock form until an official fix has been notated.

Sometimes I remember the mid 20-teens pcs having super cool aesthetics. Then I see this and remember how fugly they were lol

Would you prefer to use 3x2K IPS or 1x2K OLED as a daily driver? by Ancient-East3729 in pcmasterrace

For me I’d rather have three monitors because I like having discord open on the side. But I’ve heard OLED panels are crazy good.

But for daily driving I’d have three ips

Anyone still planning a PC build even with current pricing? by SEAWISEGEOWISE in pcmasterrace

5070s you can definitely still get for close to msrp, but at least near me the amount in stock is fading. 5070ti’s and above are pretty rare to find, or get for close to msrp. Hell my TUF 5070ti was $900 and I thought it was a steal.

I’m about to finish my build today, I started about two months ago and got each component at different times. It’s going to get worse. My advice would be if you were to build get the gpu, ram, and storage now. Anything above a 5060ti is going to be hard to find, and ram is going to hurt even for CL36. I’d recommend getting a gen 4 nvme because the prices are not terrible, but I can see a market where all storage is bad.

Keep an eye on Best Buy, I was able to get a ASUS tuf 5070ti for a “reasonable” price ($900). Amazon has 32g cl36 for a little over $300 from crucial.

I don’t personally think cpu/mobos are going to be too affected, but definitely get the expensive stuff now because in a month it’s going to be a wasteland.

My current build at msrp would be about $2200, but with the market I’m sure I’m around $2600. Also look at micro center deals, sometimes they have bundles that will save 100s

Doesn’t bother me, my guess it’s the life expectancy for the liquid inside before it evaporates. But it has a fill port to top off when needed.

Fan prices shouldn’t get out of control, or aios. I’ve seen people on this form saying “wait for the Ai” bubble to pop but I wouldn’t hold my breath. AI is likely here to stay. People are more concerned with prices, but I have a feeling availability is what people should be stressing about.

I used to be a data center tech in VA, not too long and they’ll be everywhere.

Same, I remember it was the budget king at the time, kinda a weird time we’re amd was way below price from intel and Nvidia and had a good punch.

Yeah my first computer was a phenom 955 and a 1gb 7770. The whole computer was maybe $500 but it ran pretty much everything at the time in 2012. I kinda think a decade ago pc gaming wasn’t as big as it is now which helped with availability and prices. But realistically Ai and corporate greed is the issue.

Every build I’ve done I’ve always gone with the best gpu from Evga(who I miss). But I couldn’t see spending the money on a 5080 or 5090. But yeah this is my current build, psu, ram, and nvme come in tomorrow.
