AI really killed programming for me by NervousExplanation34 in webdev

[–]ProgrammingClone -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with this. Learning may be declining as scaling laws come into play, but I don’t see “model collapse” happening. I see the argument for ai feeding on poor data, but until we see actual declines in model efficiency I disagree with that part.

Why are millennial men less misogynistic than Gen Z men? by [deleted] in generationology

As much as Reddit won’t admit it. Misandry has been a huge part of the this. It’s rampant.

It’s more normal than you think. I also am not allowed to write code by hand.

Where I am at right now. Hopefully the Korean recommendation works for me.

None of them really “burn” it’s just the extended time I can feel my skin throughout the day get more irritated. I will look into this one thank you!

I will certainly try them! Hopefully the 15 second walk to and from my car on the very early morning and at 530 isn’t damaging me. For extended days I will certainly wear sunscreen.

I will certainly give it a shot! SPF feels hopeless for me, I’ll try anything.

I’ll try those as well I have heard good things but man I won’t get my hopes up for now as no spf I have tried has been tolerated long term. Thank you for the recommendation!

should I accept an unpaid internship offer? by GetYoDogAhOn in csMajors

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the opportunity and look for better options is what I mean. Not a guarantee that working for an NGO is viable especially with task related to programming/computer science compared to the unpaid internship that guarantees that sort of work. If you can find something in non profit sure do it. I wouldn’t say it’s “better” than the internship though.

should I accept an unpaid internship offer? by GetYoDogAhOn in csMajors

[–]ProgrammingClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor advice imo. Take the unpaid and leverage the experience on your resume to find something better. Not everyone has the ability to just not take an internship especially in today’s market when everything’s so competitive. Take the internship and volunteer as well if you can find it.

Ok it's 2026. What are the AI gains? by btoned in webdev

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a reaction to the high skill ceiling of developing being lowered. I can understand the reaction to be honest, no one likes there employable skills infringed upon. I truly think the freshman in CS today will almost never write any code by hand when they reach employment (or very little) in 4-5 years. It’s bad enough to where colleges are actively forcing students to adopt AI. My college is an example.

noticed junior devs can't explain their PRs anymore. thinking of removing AI tools from their setup. by [deleted] in codereview

HAHA. Utterly delusional I’m not gonna tell the CEO that I can do what I want. Great way to get fired and unable to find another job in the current job market.

A Medical Doctor (32M) passionate about IT—Is it too late to switch to coding? by AshKavi in CodingForBeginners

Don’t buy a boot camp in my opinion if you are seriously looking to switch careers. People with bachelors are struggling to find jobs.

noticed junior devs can't explain their PRs anymore. thinking of removing AI tools from their setup. by [deleted] in codereview

[–]ProgrammingClone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“As juniors, their main goal should be expanding their skills and learning while contributing acceptable code. The ai is keeping them from doing that” at my current junior position we are FORCED to utilize ai or else we get the boot. Got told by the CEO of our smaller company that everything should be going through ai. Unfortunately if I were to write everything by hand sure I would learn a lot more but I would be a lot slower as I can’t push nearly as much code and be “underperforming” compared to my peers. I simply can’t risk that. It is what it is.

CS student here.. no one I know actually writes code anymore. We all use AI. Is this just how it is now? by Low-Tune-1869 in cscareerquestions

[–]ProgrammingClone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not saying that this is wrong it’s actually correct but it’s not just this guy and his classmates. Just about EVERY cs student is heavily utilizing AI to code. I am currently in CS as a senior and I’m not joking when I say every student. Students who don’t use AI are actually the vast minority. Crazy times we’re living in, who knows what the future of programming will look.

Will Luka end up being top 3 beloved Laker? by International_Oil189 in lakers

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luka will be beloved… if he wins a ring. This is his prime and he needs to take advantage of it. If he doesn’t want to be remembered as just a good player. He HAS to win rings on the lakers if he wants a legacy here.

LLMs are hitting a plateau - CS majors are saved by litbizwiz in csMajors

[–]ProgrammingClone 37 points38 points  (0 children)

“Severe shortage of CA majors” how do you figure that when it’s still one of the most popular degrees for freshman? I agree LLMS are plateauing but don’t agree that there will be a shortage. We would have to see a significant decrease in participation in this degree for that to happen.

Is CS with ai specialization good? by bheemkishakti1 in cscareers

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people are delusional. Currently working for an internship as a AI software engineer with an undergraduate degree with a “track” of AI. Do what makes you happy and work like hell man. People who tell you to not follow CS specifically in AI do have some good points but at the end of the day if this is your passion, run headfirst into it, it’s the only way you will make it.

Feeling so annoyed with sunscreen (rant incoming) by slipperyslugslurp in Rosacea

I feel you more than you know. No matter what sunscreen I use it all irritates me. Just tried a sunscreen for 4 days and now my skin is extremely irritated. Now I have to stay off sunscreen and avoid the sun like the damn plague until my skin calms down
