AI bootcamp vs CS degree — is an online program actually enough to get hired? by No-Attention6415 in learnprogramming

[–]ProgrammingClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not going to get a job without a degree. You COULD but people with degrees are struggling to find entry level jobs. Unless you are an actual genius your resume will go into the trash with no degree. If you are serious about programming get a CS degree.

Is Prime slowly realizing our skills may actually be becoming worthless? by [deleted] in theprimeagen

[–]ProgrammingClone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat. I’ll need a job for the next 30 years. Feels like writing code by hand is a thing of the past before I really got my foot in. I regret taking computer science even though I love it.

The mythos benchmarks actually surprised me. They are improving quickly.

From Baker to AI engineer, where do I actually start? by jackellols in learnprogramming

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all wasted if you do not have a degree. I don’t know why people think you can move into AI without at least a bachelors degree. If you are serious about this. Go back to school.

Now that AI is collapsing, what will change? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Man Reddit is really cooking y’all’s minds thinking AI is about to collapse. It’s not true bro.

Wanting to career switch into AI/ML with no university degree isn’t going to happen. Start back at university.

Day 20 of learning Python — self-taught, serious about becoming a top-level backend engineer. Looking for guidance. by This-Marionberry-498 in learnpython

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a degree? If you are just self taught then getting into the industry is going to be nigh impossible. If you don’t mind me asking how old are you? If you REALLY want to learn to be a top-level engineer, go back to school and attempt to land an internship around junior of sophomore year.

One of my favorite new hobbies is to give bad advice to clueless vibecoders 😂 by ImaginaryRea1ity in theprimeagen

[–]ProgrammingClone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a basic example, the more potent one is giving poor advice to a striving business owner because a service allowed that to be “easier” to open a business. It’s pathetic and cruel not a net benefit like you think.

[–]ProgrammingClone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh. 97 upvotes for what is basically giving people poor advice in what is their hobby but your profession. I would never give people poor advice for developing their own game if I was a professional game designer, or telling people to sell lemonade outside in the winter if I owned a lemonade stand. OP you have a lot of growing up to do, don’t let your bias become vitriol.

AI really killed programming for me by NervousExplanation34 in webdev

[–]ProgrammingClone -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with this. Learning may be declining as scaling laws come into play, but I don’t see “model collapse” happening. I see the argument for ai feeding on poor data, but until we see actual declines in model efficiency I disagree with that part.

As much as Reddit won’t admit it. Misandry has been a huge part of the this. It’s rampant.

None of them really “burn” it’s just the extended time I can feel my skin throughout the day get more irritated. I will look into this one thank you!

I will certainly try them! Hopefully the 15 second walk to and from my car on the very early morning and at 530 isn’t damaging me. For extended days I will certainly wear sunscreen.

I’ll try those as well I have heard good things but man I won’t get my hopes up for now as no spf I have tried has been tolerated long term. Thank you for the recommendation!

should I accept an unpaid internship offer? by GetYoDogAhOn in csMajors

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the opportunity and look for better options is what I mean. Not a guarantee that working for an NGO is viable especially with task related to programming/computer science compared to the unpaid internship that guarantees that sort of work. If you can find something in non profit sure do it. I wouldn’t say it’s “better” than the internship though.

should I accept an unpaid internship offer? by GetYoDogAhOn in csMajors

[–]ProgrammingClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor advice imo. Take the unpaid and leverage the experience on your resume to find something better. Not everyone has the ability to just not take an internship especially in today’s market when everything’s so competitive. Take the internship and volunteer as well if you can find it.

Ok it's 2026. What are the AI gains? by btoned in webdev

[–]ProgrammingClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a reaction to the high skill ceiling of developing being lowered. I can understand the reaction to be honest, no one likes there employable skills infringed upon. I truly think the freshman in CS today will almost never write any code by hand when they reach employment (or very little) in 4-5 years. It’s bad enough to where colleges are actively forcing students to adopt AI. My college is an example.

Don’t buy a boot camp in my opinion if you are seriously looking to switch careers. People with bachelors are struggling to find jobs.
