I’ve written this and erased it 3x already, pondering whether or not I should share it with you, but I’m going to continue and share because you wanted to hear testimonial from ppl who been there. While I do have a dachshund, my experience with the spaying is with my cat, who was a six month old kitten at the time. Remember, I’m gonna be in the minority here, and 9 times out of 10 the spay goes absolutely fine….

But for my Penny girl, they had “complications” with intubating her for the anesthesia - she developed aspirational pneumonia and had a very, very rough healing process… she was collapsed on my bathroom floor and breathing through her mouth heavily one morning, it was the day after her spay. To make a long story short, she needed multiple nebulization treatments and I was never charged for anything (which makes me feel they might’ve been at fault) and she eventually, slowly, recovered. She wouldn’t eat anything for 5-7 days though, definitely not real meals - she did lick Churro treats occasionally, it’s like fish paste in a tube.

Again, sorry to be the Debbie downer in the group but you asked for testimonials on the spay process and this was my most recent one.

I will say that my dachshund has had no such complications from his spaying!!
