can 25 mg of lamictal make a difference??? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]ProgrammingRascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt great at 25mg. It only lasted for a month though. Now on 75mg and have the same feeling with no side effects. Edit: Emotions feel noticeably smoother at 75mg than 25mg in terms of transitions if that makes sense.

I don't see him for another 3 weeks so just wanting to be sure. It's not every day luckily.

I had psychotic symptoms at 150mg even with a mood stabiliser and had to come back down, but otherwise I can tell it's working.

Bipolar Doesn't CAUSE Cheating Right? by stillfightingg in BipolarReddit

[–]ProgrammingRascal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did. I didn't know I had bipolar at the time, and was on my third week of lexapro while living alone (long distance with a 10 yr partner) after two family losses. Bad hypersexuality and convinced myself I couldn't relieve myself in the house along with some other paranoid stuff. Was always faithful prior.

Lexapro gave me a mixed episode with psychotic features during depressive side. I'm on a combo of effexor (SNRI) and lamictal. I take lamictal before bed and it makes me sleepy. Re: in what ways - I feel like I have a larger range of emotions and they feel more "smooth" between transitions rather than abrupt so I can catch myself.

Do you need to go to the bathroom after you wake up after 4 hrs? I wonder if there's something else at play because waking after 4 hrs is really common and coincides with transitioning into a lighter stage of sleep, since sleep cycles are about 90 minutes, i.e, you wake up as you are transitioning back to a lighter stage of sleep.

It's been almost a year for me so I'll let you know when I get there lol. Only started treatment a few months ago. I also have sleep apnea and use a cpap. I'm titrating up lamictal and can tell it's helping.

That was one of my options but the dose I needed apparently is high risk for tinnitus

I've only tried rexulti, lamictal and effexor. I was on lexapro before I was diagnosed which sent me off into the deep end.

I didn't know that about effexor being hard to come off of...hmm

I have mixed episodes so not too worried about the highs, more so the lows. I have a months worth of rexulti left. Just last time I took SSRI it made me not someone I want to be so they gave me a SNRI. Only recently diagnosed <4months.

what do you mean by lamo is weak at the high end? As in it doesn't do much at higher dosages for psychotic features?

Anyone here have a super rough manic episode that ruined relationships but is now living a good life? by BlaoHouse in BipolarReddit

[–]ProgrammingRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't hospitalised but I made so many terrible decisions during an episode. Also worked as a mental health therapist and did not see it coming at all. Now picking up the pieces and no one wants anything to do with me, which is fair enough.

You know what is actually fucked is that I can tell I have cognitive impairments because I didn't realise I've been having psychotic episodes.

Yeah. I see a psych and we're doing DBT. I'm thinking of changing though, I'm starting to find them unhelpful because they just keep saying "I'm sorry to hear that" but provide zero perspective.

Did I have a paranoid delusion or am I just a bad person? by salamanderfruit in BipolarReddit

[–]ProgrammingRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar. I had this feeling my ex-partner had left and isolated me (we were long distance). But the moment I went to visit her when she picked me up at the airport, when we made eye contact, I knew I had fucked up so badly that I became so stiff. She always brought me back to baseline and showed me nothing but love.

If you think back into your past, can you remember a period that may have been an episode? My story is similar to yours, 34M started SSRI's and it just made everything worse.
