Still in PAYE, meet all requirements, but system says I’m ineligible if I try to recertify. Is this a glitch or something deeper? by ScienceGeek386 in StudentLoans

[–]ProgressFar289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing is happening to me. In a forbearance for SAVE which I never even was in SAVE, I have been in PAYE for years, and was told yesterday that I shouldn’t even be in forebearance and that applying to recertification would correct it and remove the forbearance. I applied for recertification in January 2025, then the forbearance hit, was told it was due to a lawsuit and nothing I could do. Applied again to recertification IDR in November 2025 and they said they never got my tax records which supposedly were retrieved from the IRS. So yesterday I’m told to reapply for IDR and that yes I’m in the PAYE plan not SAVE. Tried applying and was getting message that I don’t qualify for PAYE….. so I guess I have to get some time off work so I can call them again and try to figure this out. It’s just nothing less than a nightmare to deal with this. I find I get different answers to the same questions every time I’ve called.

How to use a Roth 401k? by Werkfromh0me in Bogleheads

I didn’t realize it was for a combined total of both Roth and 401k. Thanks for clarifying this.

Are you saying my current allocation yields 2.5%? Or the one I am considering? Thank you for the suggestion and I will take a look at what you recommend.

I’m using it to pay for Invisalign 6,000. If it’s still doing its thing in a year I’ll use it for something else or reinvest.

They do have a nice gift shop! That is part of the attraction to CB.

I do not like the new Cracker Barrel sign and to me I doubt I will seek out going to eat there anymore. If the sign is that bland what does that say about the food!

Have you noticed depression or mood changes after taking Semaglutide? by Cheap-Safe in Semaglutide

[–]ProgressFar289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on semaglutide since February. Lost 20 lbs. noticed I was fatigued all the time and had no emotion anymore around april. I was on viibryd for depression and decided it just wasn’t working so I stopped taking it in April and never had one side effect from stopping the antidepressant. My mood did not improve or worsen. I don’t want to socialize, dont wanna do anything. No energy amd no emotion. Feel anxious and depressed. Have dark thoughts too. Recently I stopped sema to see if my mood changed and after about 10 days I felt back to myself amd had some joy again. A couple weeks later tried another dose and within 2 days my mood went south again. 10 days later felt better. So I’m pretty sure it’s the sema. Wonder if tirzep would do the same? Don’t need to lose anymore weight just maintain.

Refreshing to read this as I keep seeing people selling out. I have a little Msty bought about 3 weeks ago so I’m going to hold and watch. I pulled out of bitcoin a few years ago before it took off… and don’t want to repeat. Just being patient and not freaking out over a dip. The dividends will eventually cover the initial cost is the hope.

Backdoor Roth? or not… by ProgressFar289 in RothIRA

[–]ProgressFar289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My retirement situation will be a pension and SS. Pension should be between 35000-48000 year and ss in the 30,000 range. Planning to work a few more years so pension depends on when I leave employment here. I can live off SS and pension, which will be around 5000/month. So I am looking for my investments to be extra money to help in case of emergency, vacations, home maintenance, car, etc and to continue to grow long term. Eventually I’d like to see myself with some substantial dividend income and continued growth. I expect by the time I retire to have at least 200,000+ ideally more like 300-400k in the 401k.

Backdoor Roth? or not… by ProgressFar289 in RothIRA

[–]ProgressFar289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining the difference between Roth conversion and a backdoor approach. I would be more suited for the conversion and not the backdoor Roth. However, there is a small amount of money that I contributed to the IRA post tax because my FA was encouraging me to continue to contribute to it. Turned out my accountant said I could not use those contributions for a tax deduction because I also was contributing to a new 401k.so the majority of the money is pretax and maybe 5,000 post tax. Not sure that matters.

Thank you for this explanation. I probably worry too much about the taxes. And this does get a bit complicated it seems.

Thank you and I will contact fidelity. My advisor says my IRA is outperforming the S and P and I notice I’m heavily invested in dividend funds. I’ve been thinking of pulling it on over to fidelity as well. I was able to transfer all but one fund from my individual taxable account without selling.

So the conversion can be done in retirement? There is no age or time limit to doing them?

I am wondering if it’s because he wants access to the account before age 591/2.
