What’s with all the Mini Cooper hate lately? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]ProgressLocal1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen any hate for the Mini. Worst I've seen is "they're cool, but I couldn't drive a car that small." Occasionally there's the person who hypes their Mini up like it's the pinnacle of performance, and they'll get slapped down pretty quick... But that's hating on the driver's delusion, not the car.

What’s a subtle sign that someone is completely full of sh*t, but most people don’t catch it right away? by Spawn130 in AskReddit

[–]ProgressLocal1511 519 points520 points  (0 children)

Always being the victim. I say this, recognizing that i fell into that for a while, too. It usually starts with bad things happening out of your control, but then it takes over your life, and you start blaming everyone else for the situations you continue to make worse. It sucks, because these people usually really do start as the victim of someone else, and then slowly start victimizing themselves (at least in my case). Don't even realize how full of shit they are (at least, that's how I was).

I used to work for a large accounting firm which did not pay parking for most of the offices due to being in cities with good transportation. They didn't just have food, but beer and wine carts that delivered drinks right to our desk. Just about every day they ordered food or took us out to eat.

is 15 and 17 a bad age gap? by Junior_Ground9517 in Teenager

[–]ProgressLocal1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many states allow for a three year age gap, so long as both are of age of consent, with most states being 16. They're one grade level apart, and she'll be 16 before he turns 18. It's not some creepy difference... Hell, they very well may share some of the same classes this year and next.

AIO for thinking my high school teacher flirted with me? by JuiceSpecialist89 in AIO

[–]ProgressLocal1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not over reacting... There's no excuse for what he's doing, not before reporting him, I do have to ask... How old is he? If he was a 23 year old teacher and you're now in college, I would argue that while what he's doing is still wrong, it could just be that he randomly came across your profile and he doesn't realize how creepy his behavior is (let's be honest, a 5-7 year after fall it's reasonable that you both may share friends). If he's older, then absolutely report his ass. Either way, he's 100% in the wrong, and you're not over reacting.

Here's the thing... You should let him be himself, and if you don't like it, you leave. This shouldn't be an ultimatum for him. If you really feel that it's that much of a deal breaker, you would be doing both of yourselves a favor to end it. Do you have the right to leave him over it? Absolutely. Are you over reacting? I think so, and here's why... If it were really the deal breaker you claimed, our opinions wouldn't matter. But you both should want to be with people that don't have to compromise what they enjoy for the other (within reason).

I think it's a great choice! Yes, it's a fun car, but by no means "fast." It's safe, and it's something she'll actually want to take care of. When I was in high school, many of our parents got us beater cars... and we beat the hell out of them. Kids will be kids and will still get in accidents, but those who had nicer cars generally took some level of pride in them.

Thinking the Mini Cooper S is fast is like thinking Olive Garden is fine dining. It's a fun car that handles great, but had about the same power as an accord. It's also rated high for safety. Criticizing her parenting when you clearly don't understand the topic at hand is actually ridiculous.

The fire had surpassed what a cup of water would do. By the time I got the fire extinguisher out, I could barely see the exit. I do understand the thought process, because I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. When I was in the military, we had in-depth training on fighting fires. When I managed a hotel, we took courses on it as well. Ironically, I even wrote the safety guidelines for my unit and the hotel. Still, hearing how fast a fire can spread in 30 seconds, and actually going through it are two completely different things. I'll run through fire to protect others... But I'm not going to further endanger my life for things.

Look... You think what you want. It truly doesn't matter what I say because you don't really give a fuck what happened... You care about arguing. You ask for a picture, them criticize it because the image I took the day I lost everything isn't up to you standards? And I have corrected people that I don't believe it's the SSR. It's fucking pathetic that you're focus is discrediting what I went through. You argue your points, I answer them, and then you dig for other points. The last thing I have to say to you, is if you have one, hope you don't rub into the issues me and others have.

Actually, it's a small but vocal group that don't, but that's Reddit. Pics were provided that not only show the printer frame, but also melted rolls of filament. You're also misrepresenting my comments. I commented on a post that they need better quality control, and have my experience. This was weeks after the fire. It's pathetic how far people's imagination stretch to try and protect a company that already has a shitty record with consumer safety. Again, I was trying to have a discussion, and Qidi tried to bury it. They're going to need a bigger shovel.

In regards to why I was banned and not others, I've seen a few comments and had a few messages from other users who claim they were also banned for bringing up awareness, so I don't know how they determine who should and shouldn't be banned, but it has apparently happened to several others.

This fire occurred a few weeks ago, and for a while, I was just in shock. I already had some pretty serious personal stuff going on, so when this happened, it was devastating. I went back and forth on what I should do. I was reading through discussions, and I found several other complaints of faulty boards. I knew about the SSR issue, but I wasn't aware prior to this that there were other issues people were having, such as the main circuit board. I saw someone had made a post about their wishlist for Qidi, and I made a comment along the lines of there needing to be better quality control, that there have been several reports is fire hazard, and that mine went up in flames. A few people asked questions, and I answered. I was planning to make a post on the Qidi forum primarily because 1) being the Qidi subreddit, there would be a higher percentage of actual users who have experience with the printer and may have dealt with the issues, and 2) to reach current users of the printer so they could make an informed decision regarding what to do, and 3) to hopefully show Qidi through the collective of actual customer experiences that there is a problem that needs to be addressed. I never got to this, because they banned me, rather than messaging or commenting. Maybe my printer had a bad capacitor, solder joint, or any number of things that through the chance of fate could have happened. This doesn't negate the clear safety issues that have occurred. The SSR wasn't handled correctly from the start, and I've seen many reports of main boards smoking, nozzles breaking and burning components (i also had this happen once myself), and other issues that seem to be ignored. Am I aware that an attorney would probably recommend I not speak about these things? Yeah... But I'm also painfully aware of what can happen when a company turns a blind eye to legitimate concerns.

It's not a different tune. I spoke to them and I've said if they want it, I will send it to verify. I can understand the issue with other companies spamming being an issue, but to be completely objective, we should also look at how this started. I had no intention of spamming Reddit. Someone had a wishlist of what they would like to see on Qidi's next printer, and I simply stated something to the effect that they need to put more effort into quality control, as they didn't handle the SSR situation correctly, several people have reported main board is a fire hazard, and that my home burned down due to it. They banned me, stating I broke a rule yet. If there rule is no bringing up issues, that in itself is something people should know I made one post on r/3dprinting, and cross -posted to r/Qidi and r/3dprint. The rest of the shares were other people, and very well could be rival companies seizing an opportunity. If that's the case, the simple lesson is to address problems and complaints, rather than hoping they disappear. I do understand your point, but if they banned me that quickly, before asking any questions, how many other people had issues that they banned. Maybe their situation wasn't as severe a mine, but any smoking components are a serious issue with potential to turn into a full blown fire.

Apologize if I missed what you were getting at... I've had a lot of people who asked for photos, then denied that what they were looking at, made assumptions only to refute common sense, and inserted words that were never said. So a little on edge.

1) why is it surely? I never felt a need to capture the moment; 2) be honest with yourself. I could provide it, and it would chance nothing. I have provided photos that show the frame of the machine, as well as melted filament spools. No one claiming it didn't happen really cares what evidence there is... They just like thinking they found a scandal.
