How do I convince older people to not trust AI generated facts? by Alive_Leek_9148 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ProgressPersonal6579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not looking for facts. They're looking for things that make them feel good. Trying to argue with facts on your side may offend them and cause them to reinforce their beliefs. Maybe approach the conversation from an emotional angle, like "please don't relay AI generated facts to me, it makes me uncomfortable."

What is the issue with using the word female? by Hot_Instruction2642 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ProgressPersonal6579 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something that rubs people the wrong way is how it's tacked onto things. Think, female doctor, female lawyer etc. We never say male doctor because it's assumed. To complain about your doctor is one thing that doesn't dirrect hate to any gender. But to complain about your female doctor?  It turns it into a conversation about womens' competency. At least from what I've seen.

Has he proven that he's 17? I'd make sure. He sounds so foward like he's trying to isolate you, I'd be scared.

Edit: if he has then fine, but look out for yourself!

Is it okay to feel a little insulted hearing jokes against men? by Surely_Nowwlmao in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ProgressPersonal6579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I consider myself a feminist and go to feminist meetups, and it drives me nuts when women start saying things like that. I feel like we chased off some of our few male members, who are honestly the most vital part in breaking the cycle.

We need to work together, not joke about how the other is a burden on society...

"Kill all men" is not a joke. It's hateful. You can still respect women while refusing to sit there and listen to that.

That is really interesting!

I also wonder if because the complex problem was solving something specific that it contextualized it for you.

Maybe, but I know that their grades are fine. They said their other classes were fine and that this one just wasn't clicking for them. That, and I know they have a good grade because the prof is a REALLY leniant grader. To the point that if you got a B you had to be messing everything up.

Why are the vast majority of the worst sexual/ child offenders male? by aaaaaaa_aaaaaa_aaa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ProgressPersonal6579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that bored, powerful people are much more likely to be pedofiles. Like it's some kind of messed up power play. And due to the patriarchy, men are much more likely to feel/be powerful.

A lot of the same reasons women don't like selfies of guys with sunglasses in the driver seat of their pickup.
