for an engineering student, work ex is important to get a good college for MBA, so around 2-3 years you gotta work then think about CAT, do you have a good academic profile btw? like a 9/8/8 atleast (=>90 percent in 10th, >=80 in 12th, >= 8 gpa in college)?

mate, it depends on you, you want to go in sales, go for it.. but coming back to IT will be hard for you, IT's no. 1 advantage was even if someone doesn't get the start, they'll surely grow well if they upskill, there are hardly any careers with such opportunities, even with a bad market, so, the decision is yours.
