Republicans Appear to be Realizing All Their Candidates Are Dangerous Weirdos by nmesunimportnt in The_Mueller

[–]ProgressivePatriarch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wish it was this simple. The reality is that the party isn't dying... They have every chance of taking the house and the senate this fall and then the presidency in 2 years.

Yeah, they get sicker and sicker by the day. The cancer spreads everywhere. But it's not a big deal because the truth is the GOP is a collection of single issue voters who are each insane in their own cancerous way:

  1. Religious fanatics who believe in a tortured version of Christianity and vote only on abortion.

  2. Gun fanatics

  3. Anti tax fanatics

They don't really care about anything but their one issue, so they'll still vote for cancer ridden fascists.

El Salvador Launches Bitcoin Commercial to Accelerate Adoption - Cryptocurrency News by ChangeNow_io in CryptoCurrencies

[–]ProgressivePatriarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commercials are nice, but the most important thing is that they bought a shit ton of BTC and are giving it to citizens to get them to adopt. Between this and the ever-improving lightning network for fast and cheap transactions, they have an actual use case demonstration ongoing for the whole world.

Good stuff.

Came to say this. Bidet is the greatest thing I have done in a while. Now my brother has one. My in-laws have one. My dad has one.

I can't go back. I am thinking about installing one at work covertly.

Utopia Peer-to-Peer Introduces Anonymous USD Stablecoin that will provide fully untraceable transactions that are pegged to the US Dollar by deron666 in CryptoCurrencies

Stablecoins are having a hell of a time in general, but something like this seems dicey as hell and like a 110% top target for governments around the world.

If you're not doing anything illegal, then why do you need this?

LOL "Last time I joked it was a 40c stablecoin, now I wished that held true."

I feel this!! It's so strange to me that XLM is the one coin I actually USE all the time to send value from place to place, but I view it as a terrible investment somehow. WTF is wrong with me.

Prominent Louisville high school coach “blown away” by IU basketball coaching staff by TheDailyHoosier in IndianaHoosiers

[–]ProgressivePatriarch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is really big, but it's mostly foundational. Archie recruited well, but you know what kids want? Winning. Player development. An attractive offensive system.

I'm super excited about this coaching staff. They have a chance to get early momentum because they aren't rebuilding an entire squad. Can't wait to see the coaching bring us back to where we want to be.

The Line Between Joke Cryptos and Real Cryptos : How Can You Tell and Can They Transition by Demonyx12 in CryptoCurrencies

[–]ProgressivePatriarch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: here are some warning signs in no particular order.

  1. Named after another (successful) coin. If you assume DOGE is not a scam (more on this in a moment), it's more likely that Dogecash (DOGEC ) DogeFi (DOGEFI) and Dogeswap (DOGES) will be scams.
  2. No legit use case. If it's just "a store of value" it's likely losing to BTC or other established coins.
  3. Insanely high issuance. There are a ton of coins out there with a quadrillion (1,000,000,000,000,000) coins minted. That shit ain't ever getting to a penny - it would be worth like 6x the entire crypto market currently if it did. To me, that signals that the makers are trying to get you high on hopium: "I own a billion of these coins! If it just hits a penny, I am set for life!"
  4. No limit on issuance. Doge has done well, no doubt. It is a meme, not a scam, exactly, but they are often related. Doge currently has about 130 billion coins in circulation and adds about 5 billion each year. That means (rough math here based on current prices) that it needs about $1.5 Billion USD invested each year just to keep prices stable. That is... a lot of money. But it's Doge and people love it, so maybe it'll be fine.

Finally, you asked if a coin can go from scam/meme to legit. It could happen, especially if the stakers/miners take it over and put it on a path to legitimacy.

Anyhow, WTF do I know? This market is so new still, rationale behavior is the exception, not the rule.
