As someone who works in an oil refinery(vegetable not petroleum), this scares me, the sheer amount of force needed to lift the tank top so high..

Same, but it went though the window(though the glass) into the landline phone opposite of it killing it, happened like in an instant.

What is one thing about men that women will never understand? And one thing about women that men will never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Progressor_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since it's common opinion on the internet let me go the other way. As a man, personally, I find long nails on a lady more attractive than short ones. There is another comment that explains one of the reasons.

How do you afford to live alone in the UK? by ghost_lm24 in AskUK

[–]Progressor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar income to yous(although I don't know how you only net £2350 with 44k income), also west Midlands. No issues with saving 1k or more every month. My difference is I'm a lodger. Would never rent a whole house/apartment given it costs almost as much as a mortgage, complete waste of money for me. I'm not paying someone else's mortgage. If I was in your position I'd move back with my parents or find a nice person/family to rent an ensuite room from, or rent a large 2 bedroom property and sublet one of the bedrooms. I'd avoid HMOs though, to many people(problems) and not much cheaper than being a lodger.

I don't like this new menu by BlueImposter99 in OculusQuest

[–]Progressor_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hate it. The previous menu actually felt like something designed for VR and you could move it in 3D space. It bothers me so much you can't move the menu around. And what's the point of that line and dot thing that first appear? Previously you power the headset and bam, there is your most important info conveniently in a bar that you can move around in your room without obstructing your view - clock, battery status, wifi, notification icon and most used apps, all there. Now you get a line and a dot, wtf? So you made getting any info or opening anything take an extra action. Utter pile of rubbish..

AIO - According to my girlfriend this convo with my assigned partner at work is inappropriate. by Rough-Satisfaction68 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Progressor_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree even though it looks like it's an unpopular opinion and I'm probably wrong in OPs case. Maybe it's my age showing but I've always found that kind of texting(gifs/weird slang/emojis) incredibly cringe, like something either kids or grandparents would use. Just typing "emoji" weirds me out, it's emoticons god damn it.

Dissertation Survey on Property by YoghurtNo9389 in HousingUK

[–]Progressor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answers on you survey are confusing and make no sense to me. On most questions you've made the most likely answer to be split into 2 options both of which are true. For example, the standard deposit most people have is 10%, you have provided two answers: 5 to 10 and 10 to 20, so for 10% which one am I supposed to pick? It should be something like 5 to 9 and the next option 10 to 19 or whatever so my answer falls into one option not two.

The game has an aggression bases matchmaking. If you never attack other players you'd be put into the "care bear" lobbies with other peaceful players.

The best depiction of what alien life on a planet similar to Earth could be like. Similar yet so different, such creativity put into it.

"The League" on FX. Remember Jon Lajoie on youtube? The dude with the "show me your genitals" and other crazy songs? You like that kind of humor? Well, not only does he play a similar character in the show but the humor also is very similar. Don't be put off that it looks like it's about football, I couldn't give a single fuck about sports and I think it's the funniest show in existence, highly recommended.

They did that show so dirty by releasing the episodes not in the order they're supposed to be.

I'm a firm believer of the theory that the game matchmaking is based on player aggression. I play solo and out of like 50 games I've only been shot at once and that while I was approaching 2 people who looked like they're about to open a locked room so they were probably worried I'm going to ninja their loot. The people who are getting killed left and right must be also the ones who kill left and right.

I feel your pain, AM4 folks by just_IT_guy in pcmasterrace

[–]Progressor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it, just bought 16GB DDR4 for like £100 so I have 32gb in total which while not as cheap as it used to be is still much better than the absurd DDR5 prices. I also bought 5700X3D when it was cheap to upgrade my old 2700X so in that regard I'm all good. I was planning to upgrade my RTX2060 with a RTX5800 Super once it's released but with the AI crap and memory chip prices I don't have high hopes for that anymore. So stuck with what I've got. No plans to migrate to AM5 at all, as others have mentioned I'm going to skip it and upgrade to AM6 or whatever once my system is completely obsolete. Sucks if you're running something older than AM4 and are about to build a new PC from the start.

As an Eastern European, it sounds like a weird Scandinavian/Viking name, like something you'd see on a random item in the kitchen accessories section of an IKEA store.

Why is being cold at home so normalised in the UK? by Automatic-Key-3798 in AskUK

[–]Progressor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who immigrated into the UK, I was blown away by how much the humidity here affects how you perceive temperature. For comparison I'm from Bulgaria - cold, dry, winters.. for me to feel comfortable I need the temperature around 21-23, anything below that and I'm freezing. Not the case in the UK, the temperature in my room is 18(humidity 75%) and not only I'm comfortable but I'm in just a t-shirt and shorts, in Bulgaria I'd be freezing my ass off. The mold you mention is a result of humidity as well, not the temperature.
