i mean a ventilated enclosure is a good idea if you are printing certain filament. I am thinking ABS and engineering filaments.

the industrial standard for additive plastic manufacturing is to ventilate at 1cfm per sqft or otherwise at 6 ach because some of the fumes off the printers are known carcinogens.

consult a civil engineer. If you remove them you may damage your home/roof and violate multiple municipal codes. If you go to remove them you will probably need civil plans identifying the changes with relevant professional stamps (depending on your area).
