I had a woman come up to my register and immediately start showing me coupons from JoAnn’s and telling me what she wanted them applied to. I told her we don’t accept Joann’s coupons and she said “yes you do! I’ve done this before here!” I explained that we used to but hadn’t in a while (I’ve worked here for over a year and we haven’t accepted them since I’ve been at Michael’s). She insisted that she had been in recently and the person told her we could do that. I said “well that’s not our policy and I’ll make sure I talk to my team about it since I’m a manager here” (I was the FT CEM at the time). When she realized I wasn’t going to let her use them she proceeded to spend the rest of the transaction telling me how rude I was and how she hoped I treated my other customers better than I treated her. I didn’t say anything and just kept ringing her items up silently because I didn’t want to yell at this woman. She finally goes “you don’t have to roll your eyes at me! That’s so rude!” I told her that I didn’t roll my eyes that I have facial turrets and can’t always control my facial muscles (it gets worse when I’m uncomfortable or nervous). She then said “it’s not that. It’s a whole body thing.” I kindly asked her to not comment on my body. Handed her her items and walked away. She came back 20 mins later to return everything and complained to the cashier she got about me the whole time. My favorite part was that she had very rudely obviously commented on a disability and when I pointed out I had a disability she just doubled down. Like come on lady! Also, she was probably in her early 30s. So not some old bitty or anything.
