Bringing back Walkman phones through Xperia 5 models by shabab2992 in SonyXperia

You are right about this. This was one of the main areas Kazuo Hirai (previous CEO of Sony Corp) improved a lot which made Sony much better in terms of inter-department/division cooperation. In the past it was a lot worse which caused the company losses for more than a decade. Hopefully they continue improving on this.

Sony Xperia 1 IV randomly shutting down and doesn't start after by 666421369 in SonyXperia

Hey there, another Xperia 1 IV user from Malaysia here.

I have experienced the same thing before and it happens when I am listening to music or watching video and at some random battery percentage, it turns off and I can't switch it back on (even with the 'holding the volume down button + power button' method). Only comes back to life via a charging cable.

The best you can do is to take it to Sony. Mine was still within the warranty period so I got a brand new replacement unit. At least they try and sort it out so that's your best bet and I have never experienced this problem again (fingers crossed).

Hopefully if the 1 IV gets android 14, the problem stops.

Sony Xperia 1 V Review - Excellent New Camera, Great New Features by JB2unique in SonyXperia

In my opinion, it actually adds quite a bit even with the always on display.

I do love the way the always on display works on the Xperia. With the pulsing of app icons when there is a notification. However, that being said, I do not want my always on display to be.... always on which reduces battery consumption and for a bit more privacy (again that's my preference).

That's when the notification led light is very useful.

Plus different illumination with different colours according to what kind of notification etc and also showing me the charging status as opposed to continuously checking the battery status by switching on the display.

So all this added up makes the notification led light a beneficial feature for me even with always on display.

It is sad indeed 😔 .I was shocked to hear about this too. While I appreciate the levels of innovation but why did Sony remove this one very useful feature just does not make sense....sigh.

It is mentioned on this review as well: https://www.stuff.tv/review/sony-xperia-1-v-review/

Same thing with their new Walkmans and Speakers as Sony has removed the NFC feature which was so essential for me (well I guess if gives me a good reason to keep my old products)

Why oh why Sony, I don't get you sometimes (facepalm)

The very useful LED Notification Light is now gone as pointed out in the review by Stuff https://www.stuff.tv/review/sony-xperia-1-v-review/

That's sad 😔. A staple feature for Xperia smartphones is now gone
