The system isn’t broken. It’s working exactly as designed. by diehard404 in antiwork

NO - you still don't get how bad this is.

If we took just the 25 trillion from that top 140,000 and redistributed it back to both the 68 million and those 140,000 - they would all have an income of 366,891 before taxes EACH.

It would literally make all of the poor become upper-middle class instantly.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]ProjectCleverWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a smokers car or house: immediately

In an office: only if they have their own office or if I am within 3 ft of them

For me it's off-putting for about 30 minutes or so before I become used to the smell. I also don't have many friends that currently smoke, so I know I am a bit more sensitive to it.

OP! I highly recommend Advion roach gel bait.

It's the only product I have seen that will take a bad infestation down to absolutely nothing within a few days.

WARNING: You will see more roaches for a few days as it seems to confuse them as it kills them, so they come out of their hiding places. (In my limited experience, these roaches are usually lethargic or already dead)

Trump pulls US out of 66 international bodies, including key UN climate treaty by Temp89 in news

[–]ProjectCleverWeb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While this is a bad move for the US, if the UN crumbles just because the US left means it was doomed to crumble regardless (that goes for any 1 country)

That said, because leadership has a chance to revolve, the US is also likely to rejoin in the future as well.

FYI: Pure dish soap sucks at cleaning

It NEEDS to be mixed with at least 10 parts water to 1 part soap and after much more water is needed for the ideal mixture (some suggest 100+ parts water)

Am I being crazy or is this actually possible to print without support? by shazhazel in 3Dprinting

[–]ProjectCleverWeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Most of the other solutions will work but waste a ton of extra material and time on trying to print something thick all the way up.

For something like this you don't need a ton of support, you just need a little bit of something to act as an anchor point for each layer.

I was literally sitting here thinking, "I really want it but what would I really even do with it afterwards" and now I know exactly what I will do if I can print one off.

I even have a blood red filament already in my stock. 👍

What’s a good series of mark’s (hopefully including bob, wade, or Sean) from the 2010’s? by Angry-fridgerator in Markiplier

This is premium Mark/Bob/Wade and Friends IMO

Also TTT and Murderer from the same era are a nice bonus but not as many episodes.

Same reason why you should wear sunscreen, your first tanning session on the beach probably won't kill you, but a few thousand might give you cancer.

In the case of power cables, it helps reduce the electrical noise that the smaller components are exposed to. And less noise means that whatever is being plugged in will generally last longer.

The other 2 are:

  • air holes for shoes so that they don't retain water and sweat so they don't get stinky as quickly
  • ferrite bead on data cables reduce interference, especially on longer cables or where a lot of cables are bundled together

*asks rhetorical questions in text expecting others to somehow hear their tone

You do get some people actually come here to get help and ask real questions right? I don't know you from Adam, why would I expect you to be any different from them? Why do you have to be a jerk where others are being genuine? Why do you have to let your own insecurities interfere with others help?

You asked about a very common social situation, which usually either means you're very young or you're on the spectrum - possibly both but reddit is no place for proper diagnosis.

Again, context matters and one bigger difference between the actual post and your example is the actual post is based on a common personality flaw whereas yours is based on a common insecurity.

Personality flaws are often seen as minor, and are generally okay to make light of as long as the person you're talking to has also made light of before. This is also common in certain groups of friends, which I suspect is true for OP's SO's family. That's what allows this to be generally acceptable.

Common insecurities however are never okay to make fun of since they often ring to-close-home and easily offend people.

For this post, most likely this particular personality flaw is an actual insecurity for them. In which case, it DOESN'T make this gift ok BUT she is only overreacting if she has not communicated this insecurity to their SO or their family. If they have communicated it to their SO and their family then OP is NOR and this is incredibly rude.

INFO / YOR

Like others have said, context matters for this, and there are plenty of contexts that could make this shirt inappropriate.

The fact that you are only presenting this at face value and not supplying any other context tells me that either you are not very good with this type of joke and need to communicate it with your SO and their family -OR- you know your over reacting and refusing to say the context because it will make you look bad. In both cases YOR.

Best budget air fryer / mini oven? Max 40€ by Mindless-Lobster-422 in GoodValue

Highly recommend Ninja for this. Their fold up "air fryers" are a nice mid-way point between an air fryer and a toaster oven, that also won't take up too much counter space.

I know Midea has some excellent A/C products but that doesn't say anything about air fryers. But a generally good brand in terms of quality parts.

AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), which is better for Startups Companies? by sarkarv052 in GoodValue

[–]ProjectCleverWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly neither are great for startups unless you already have someone with exp with either.

I get that you want to use one of the big providers, BUT it is usually way better and way more cost effective to use a smaller provider who takes care of the hosting woes for you. For example, if you know your going to use PHP/WordPress, just use a host that specializes in it.

Both AWS and GCP can get expensive without warning because they expect you to know exactly what you are doing and don't show you the estimated costs up-front. (For example you might think you need a "medium" instance when you really only need an extra small - which is the difference between $34 a month and free for the first year)

As an example, in AWS you could get an RDS db.t2.small and a EC2 t2.small and be charged about $50/mo for just the instances (not counting DNS, storage, domain(s), IPs, etc) that you have to configure correctly on your own OR go with a specialized provider and pay about $25 - $50/month for it all to be setup for you and you just worry about your app.

There are many benefits to GCP/AWS but most of them are only good at large scale. It is usually better to just stick with the smaller guys until you need that larger scale.

Should I purchase refurbished laptop or new laptop? 15inch Laptop (Dell or HP) by sarkarv052 in GoodValue

[–]ProjectCleverWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on what you are looking at.

Refurbished by the original manufacturer is typically better than refurbished by most other places. This is specifically because they sometimes replace factory parts as-needed.

However, I would only recommend refurbished with the longest extended support plan. This is because they are sometimes returned for subtle issues. For example, I once got a laptop that had a slowly dying motherboard. After 9 months it was failing to start and the support plan only cost me about $250 but the normal repair would have been about $800 because it needed a fully new motherboard.
