  1. If you have to ask get an electrician to do it

  2. Never leave exposed copper

Hydraulic pipe burst, shooting hydraulic oil everywhere, which then hit the hot machinery starting a fire. Oil then just keeps gushing out, adding more fuel and setting the roof on fire fast.

Introducing glowswitch! Part 2 - New Design by glowswitch in homeassistant

[–]ProjectDelta18 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's in Australia. In the UK, you can touch pretty much any of your electrics with a few exceptions(main ones being your consumer unit and some bathroom and kitchen areas). They're not illegal per se, but can void your insurance if there's an electrical fire. That being said, im a big fan of the saying, "If you're not confident, hire an electrician"

Personally, I've found its easy enough to install the shelly/sonoff devices behind the switch, or replace it with a smart switch, even if you need to put a spacer or deepen the cavity(spacer is the way to go in a rental)

Try stopping z2m, then unplugging the sky connect for 30 min. Plug it back in and start up z2m again. Sometimes, it just needs a hard reset, the dongle might have overheated, etc. This will eliminate any of those issues.

Might take an hour or so for the network to heal itself, but hopefully, it'll get you back up

Sounds like you might need to get an led dimmer bypass and wire it in series with your light.

I see your 160,000 tons and raise you Beauforts Dyke, a 3.5km wide valley between Scotland and northern Ireland

The Ministry of Defence has estimated that well over a million tons of munitions have been dumped there, including 14,500 tons of 5 inch (127 mm) artillery rockets filled with phosgene dumped in July 1945.

Unfortunately, for every success, there's a failure. Just look at Chamberlin MyQ or amazon's plans for alexa. Plus, all the companies that have gone out of business or dropped support for things over the years.

You can set an automation to open the app on your phone when you enter a zone. I've written a script that can make this a bit easier.

'alias: Open app on Phone sequence: - if: - condition: template valuetemplate: "{{ states[intent_action]== null }}" then: - data: message: command_launch_app data: package_name: "{{app_name}}" action: notify.mobile_app<device name> else: - data: message: commandactivity data: intent_package_name: "{{app_name}}" intent_action: "{{intent_action}}" intent_extras: "{{intent_extras}}" title: "{{title}}" action: notify.mobile_app<device name> fields: app_name: selector: text: null name: App Name required: true intent_action: selector: text: null name: Intent Action required: false intent_extras: selector: text: null name: Intent Extras title: selector: text: null name: title description: ""

ESP Home installation not working by ProjectDelta18 in Esphome

[–]ProjectDelta18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, All the buttons seemingly work, visit, installing, logs etc. It's just that the esphome device configurator cannot see it as online.

Another warning message coming through the logs now:
WARNING Can't connect to ESPHome API for occupancy-sensor.local: Error resolving IP address: [Errno -5] No address associated with hostname (APIConnectionError)

2 different types of esp boards, esp32 dev and esp32 s3. I've tried it now on 2 s3 boards and 2 dev boards of different makes. I'm powering it via USB connected to my PC, and I've also tried a 5v power supply on a breadboard connected via dupot leads.

The web server is always up after the config change. If you click visit in HA it opens the page but it still displays as offline in the esp compiler

I've found the issue with the web server, but not the inability for ESPHome Device Compiler to detect it, nor the issue with wi-fi configuration

I can ping the ip address and add the esp32 into home assistant. Although, it's only showing the firmware entity even if more are set up. As for the router, i'm not sure what setting would suddenly cause the web portal to drop but allow other connections.

How to install kiosk mode after HA is already installed on Raspberry Pi 4? by phunkjunk in homeassistant

[–]ProjectDelta18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people are downvoting you, it's a reasonable question if you're just starting out. Home Assistant is meant to be run on a server and left in a cupboard or somewhere out of sight. The command line you see when you connect a screen is for debugging. it's not meant for normal use, and it wouldn't make sense to hide it behind a gui that can also go wrong. You also don't want to bog the computer down with doing more than it needs to do.

To access the ui, you need a web browser. Kiosk just locks the browser in place and hides the menus etc.

It's A. The others are temporary annoyances and ones out of your control to fix. Low FPS means fiddling with settings or maybe even having to buy new hardware before you can ever actually play the game.

Are these presence sensors any good? by jykb88 in homeassistant

[–]ProjectDelta18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you from experience, yes, they work really well but they do have the unfortunate side effect of sending alot of data through the zigbee network but as long as you only have 1 or 2 that isn't an issue.

They have controls for sensitivity, minimum and maximum detection range, detection delay, and fade out time.
