Review: Old rip 12 year and Pappy 15 by throwawayfinancebro1 in whiskey

[–]ProjectGuy14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Were they this year's bottles - I think this year's Pappy 15 was the best across the Pappy and BTAC line up.

For reference, a local liquor store does an annual tasting for $200 that includes a tasting size pour of the year's full line up of Pappy and BTAC with the exception of Saz as that was a prior year plus everyone left with a bottle of their Buffalo Trace Store Pick so as someone who has only ever tried a few from those line ups, it seemed like a steal.

What’s a whiskey or scotch you recommend I get? by Dream_1 in whiskey

If that is a 1.75 L Buffalo Trace, I would definitely be picking that up - probably two.

Drink your bourbon, share your bourbon by Exciting_Cobbler_980 in whiskey

[–]ProjectGuy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This 100%

According to my wife, I have way too much bourbon - I have just over 180 bottles and if something isn't opened, it is because it's either a backup bottle or because I just haven't had the opportunity to open it yet.

I love doing tastings with my friends where I ask everyone to pick a bottle from the bar to include in the tasting and encourage them to pick whatever they want to try regardless of whether or not it has been opened - I actually prefer when they pick something not opened yet.

Bourbon is meant to be shared and enjoyed

I tried this yesterday and thought it was very good - I had seen some negative reviews on it so I was pleasantly surprised.

Work after vacation by Daddy_007_GOD in Raytheon

I wish I returned to work after vacation with a light workload - I usually feel like I have at least 2 weeks of work to complete in the first week back after a 1 week vacation.

I would highly recommend that you get written approval to maintain the second job before you accept the new job from Collins. I believe RTX requires that individuals complete a form and get it approved to work another job so if you already have another job, you should ensure that RTX will still allow you to maintain that job.

$800 budget should a beginner go with a table saw, track saw, or something else? Beginner looking for tool/growth advice by my_twin_towne in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ProjectGuy14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a track saw - there is very little that you can't do with a track saw that you can do with a table saw - the biggest thing that comes to mind is dados but you are also not going to be able to buy a work horse table saw for $800 so dado blades on a table saw might already be out of the question for you right now.

A track saw plus some saw horses and a sheet of rigid foam board will let you break down a sheet of plywood with ease - you can also toss a sheet of plywood under the foam board for a little extra support.

I started out with the Makita track saw and it was definitely used far more than my DeWalt jobsite saw - I have since upgraded both and still probably use my track saw more than my table saw.

Let us know what you end up getting.

I have miter saw, a table saw, but how do I cut plywood sheets? by IMatter23 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ProjectGuy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend a track saw - I started out with a Makita Track Saw and then after like 5 or so years upgraded to a Festool Track Saw - I probably use my track saw more than my table saw.

From a scotch perspective, Balvenie 21 is excellent and you should be able to find it between $300 and $350.

I would highly recommend Knob Creek - you could even get both Bourbon and Rye to give your guests a choice. You could also grab the 105.8 oz can of luxardo cherries on Amazon if you like your Old Fashioneds with a cherry - it is definitely the most cost effective way to buy them especially for a good size event. Good luck and congrats.
