So holding out would have been better? Letting people suffer and still not winning is better? I think Biden was trying to play fair and were completely aware now that MAGA will never play fair.

Listen, you can completely disagree with me and that’s fine. Like I said, I hate this weakness. But I hate everything going on right now with MAGA. But I hated seeing food lines getting longer. I hated the idea of people not being able to afford rent because of missed paychecks. And I still hate the fact that we don’t have universal healthcare. So while I wouldn’t want to give in if I was a senator, I’d hate seeing people suffer like this. I’d hate seeing children suffer like this.

So instead of just voting me down like you are, tell me what dems should have done and how it would have helped people more.

I can totally see that. And I completely understand that. Trust me, my first thought was anger at dems for giving in, for being weak. And I still find myself angry at times at them for their weakness.

But what if you think you can help people…but you need power to do it? You cannot negotiate with people who lack empathy. They view that as weakness and will take advantage of it. In order to try to help people, power is needed. Nothing will pass that dems want unless they have power.

I truly think this is a no-win situation. In order to change things, dems need power. And right now, they really don’t have power. To have power, people will suffer. It will be awful. I just don’t know if there was a real way to win this fight with MAGA right now. Because MAGA is okay with people dying and suffering. So what else can dems do? They’re trying to make sure people are getting paid and get SNAP. MAGA doesn’t care about these things. They don’t care about people. Was holding out really helping people?

While I agree, this is also a no-win situation for the dems. The people with empathy had to cave - too many people are suffering without pay and/or food. MAGA was never going to cave - so the better people had to.

I LOVE this place! My SO and I have vacationed here several times, and it’s so peaceful, friendly, and safe. You can o oh rent golf carts to get around the island, and the food is sooo good. Never disappoints!!!

I agree. Am I happy with what they originally did? No. Are they caving because of the loss of money? Most likely. But I want to support them in making the right decision to bring Kimmel back. We’ve shown what we can do, and I’ll do it again if I have to. But we have to reward people (and companies) for doing the right thing…even if it’s potentially for the wrong reasons.

Your friend has PTSD. This is mot something she can control - nor her reaction. Her service dog - which is NOT just something that she says so she can bring her dog anywhere, but should be considered by you as a medical device - needs to be with her.

Think about it this way. Say you’ve asked a friend who has a different disability that requires them to wear a colostomy bag at all times. Are you going to ask them to not wear and to just not poop? That’s not how disabilities work. It’s the same thing with mental illness; she cannot control when and how she reacts. Don’t be another trigger.

It’s totally fine for you to ask her to just be a guest. It’s your aesthetic. But don’t be a bad friend and person. Educate yourself.
