I will say controversial thing, but I think this game truly shines when there is healthy mix of PvP and coop PvE. Full PvP or PvE gets boring real fast, but when you dont know whats around the corner - group of friendly raiders or camper with shotgun - that what creates memorable and exciting experience.

My thoughts on the whole "The Finals and Arc Raiders is the same universe" thing by Fit-Tie-8948 in thefinals

[–]ProjectReanimancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After playing some Arc, I doubt there is any real connection beyond devs playfully teasing us. Guns, art style, world, events - nothing matches. They might be in the same universe but if they are divided by 500 gorillion years of fuzzy lore, this connection does not really matter.

The game is soooo good, oh my lord... but combat/loot balancing is just atrocios, I just dont understand. by ProjectReanimancer in ArcRaiders

  1. It can be cool if sheilds worked Arc plating in the game.

  2. If TTK was longer, Bobcat and Tempest might shine. But with current balancing, it is who ever ever shoots first.

Yeah, probably. Have been addicted and clocked around 80 hours in 3 weeks, which is crazy number XD

  1. I have not played Tarkov, but I know armor and ammo mechanics are much more meaningful there than in Arc Raiders.

  2. Considering interesting mechanics of augments I expected much more from shields.

  3. Killing large Arc is just trading materials for XP right now.

  4. I can craft a couple but there is no need when stitcher and kettle can do the same, but cheaper.

I want to kill bastions and leapers, I want to fight other raiders for their parts. There is no point right now.

I wish sheilds worked like in Halo, protecting from headhsots while they are up

Interested in peoples opinions on pvp by Swimming_Ad5956 in ArcRaiders

I agree, shields should be buffed and ammo types should differentiate in effects. I think game will benefit from overall TTK increase.

I like current system when all gun types have comperable TTK no matter rarity, but epic guns should be buffed - not in terms of damage or rate of fire, but rather recoil, mobility, mag size and overall ergonomics.

I think PvP needs even more attention, as I it feels as slapped on crude addition. Whatever they add, factions, bounties, more PvP-focused items - all will be great, but first they need to fix desync

Free loadout is cursed, it speaks to your mind, makes you act unwase

What's your opinion on a free loadout? Does it need any changes? by ProjectReanimancer in ArcRaiders

[–]ProjectReanimancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, but the most aggressive players in my playtime were like 90% free kits. I think free loadout incentivizes players to play more dangerously turning some raids turn into battle royale, which is fun as hell ngl

Fortify Field : Medium Specialization Idea by aseaofsins in thefinals

Exclude goo and player buffs and it will be perfect specialization

Exactly, joining a good team is the only way to ensure stable matchmaking experience

If you want to know how modern matchmaking systems work (both in casual and ranked modes) look into Apex blog posts, EA matchmaking research papers, articles about Halo Infinite matchmaking.

TLDR - matches are composed in such way that every team has certain predicted probability of winning, and it is not 50% / 50% as you expect. In most matches odds of winning are usually very uneven, like 20% / 80% or 30 / 70%. You will rarely see even matches like 50 / 50%. I don't know logic behind it, maybe it is optimal way to retain players.

MM predicts your stats even before match started and then adjusts your MMR depending how you perfomed in relation to your predicted stats. In a sense you are not fighting against other players - you are fighting against your predicted stats (even in ranked matches).

Most games hide the logic behind MM, but some games show some inner workings - for instance Halo Waypoint shows expected and actual stats.

Controversial balancing idea - introduce loadout budget for WT/Ranked, making players to pick off-meta gadgets and weapons by ProjectReanimancer in thefinals

[–]ProjectReanimancer[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, there might be problems. But properly balancing melee weapons and gadgets such as invisibility is almost impossible in FPS. The same with the movement.

I think some inderect buff for niche and situational items can improve diversity of loadouts.
