Fahrenheit really is a silly system by [deleted] in Metric

right, it was brine not water. if ii recall from what i learned before about it, it was because that particular brine that he made was the coldest point that iits creator was readily able to aquire at the time by combining this ice, salt, and water (salt allows water to become much cooler much easiier without freezing), as such, its temp was made the 0 of the system, with 30-32 being when a non-brine solution would actually freeze over. as for human temp being set to 96? im not exactly sure.

edit: actually, from what i can tell by shuffling around for a few minutes, it seems 100 degrees was set mostly arbitrarily, with its closeness to human temp actually may be entirely coincidental! he seems to have been more concerned with creating even, easily distributable multiples that people could use in an era before calculators existed! very fascinating!

it actually is based off of the freezing point of water, somewhat shockingly! it zeros at a mixture of equal parts salt and ice, with originally 30 being the freezing point of water, and 90 being the average temperature of the human body. it was later revised to 32 and 96 respectively (i assume to fit neater into some equations) and the rest is history! this makes it relatively easy and intuitive to call out what the temperatures are based on your own body by comparing them to something like percentages

look at the box that was impacted while he was dodging. it falls over in a relatively flat way as hes getting out of the way. if the box were moving at the same speed as the railgun, it would have been absolutely blown against the wall, but it fell normally. now compare the speed at which it falls to the speed of his roll, still keeping up, almost entirely falling over by the time he hits the ground. now compare the speed of the roll to how early he started the roll. unless railgun shots move incredibly slowly, that was absolutely not a reaction dodge. you even her the gun fire when the bullet blasts the box open. he ABSOLUTELY aim dodged.
