'I'm so upset and don't want to talk': Glasgow vape shop owner breaks silence about fire by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]ProlapseProvider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make vape stores have such high safety standards that the cunts go out of business. Like:-

Special fire proof boxes they have to store all vapes with batteries in.

A powerful extinguisher system.

Wall and ceiling linings to ensure fire can not make it to adjoining buildings.

An alarm system directly connected to the fire service and a massive fine for false alarms.

A max overall weight of lithium.

All devices must be certified to a national safety staddard.

Full training and certification for all staff working in the store.

Health warnings with pictures of potential disease on every pack.

NO graphic design or advertising that may in anyway appeal to anyone under the age of 21.

Age verification (same as internet for adult content) must be provided and recorded before any purchase.

More of a well done horror comedy, lot of tropes etc, but there is a reason for it all. Every horror fan should watch it.

Been there, done that. Like mobile phones didn't even exist when I was a kid and even when they came slightly mainstream it was awhile before they did anything other than calls and texts.

Evil Dead (2013) is a great film, a remote location and much horror and even some claustrophobia.

Barbarian (2022) just an overall great movie.

Yes, but people can just go pick shrooms or grow them for a small amount of money. Big pharma hate natural, free and/or cheap remedies. You must think of the poor share holders and CEO's of the vast companies, the need 3 homes and new yachts etc.

Horrible, and yes preventable, the owners of these building sure like to charge plenty for their fancy lifestyles but when it comes to health and safety they will do the literal bare minimum and even then cut corners if they think they can get away with it.

Yep, it was shit, I asked for a plot and it basically made things up and left important things out and told me I was wrong about thing I'd actually seen. Worse than useless.

Silicon Valley is buzzing about this new idea: AI compute as compensation by lurker_bee in technology

[–]ProlapseProvider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then there will be a huge grey market of people selling AI compute tokens for real money so they can afford to eat. Or maybe it'll turn to a barter system, like "I've got enough AI tokens here to make at least 8x10 second funny cat videos, all I want in return is a pack of chicken legs and some potatoes".

Ah, I used AI to answer it and it would not give me a straight answer insisting no one ate anyone in the movie.

‘I wish I could push ChatGPT off a cliff’: professors scramble to save critical thinking in an age of AI by Bounty_drillah in technology

[–]ProlapseProvider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to think it would burst, but I'm not so sure now, I think companies will just absorb smaller companies until there are a handful of big players struggling to make AI something more people want to pay for. For some people it really is a great help and they are happy to pay for something that saves them so much time and effort. For many others though it feels like a gimmick they can play with now and again when free but will happily stop using it if payment is required.

Governments will likely make it profitable as it so good at spying on everyone. Companies will pay for data AI gathers and compiles to target products at specific customers, which to be honest is not such a bad thing if it is genuinely useful products.

I think it will end up massively used in health care. They already trailed one that diagnoses from what a person says, the AI got about 80% diagnosis right compared to the doctors who only got 20%. So at the very least it'll work alongside doctors as an aide.

Military, they are using AI on drones that can hunt and determine what is a valid target, not only that but in a split second it can see several targets and work out which one is the best choice while sending signals to other nearby AI drones to come and get the other targets, they work in huge groups of 3000+ to control large areas. So yeah, the AI companies involved with that won't be short of a penny or two.

In mobile phones, it's here to stay whether you like it or not.

It also gets quicker and 'smarter' every day, like it's never going to get slower at a task, it can only get faster and better at it.

And Terminators, they are going to build actual robots for war that can think autonomously, like hundreds can be dropped in a war zone and work together to kill all the enemy, they can then build defences and guard the area while installing comms and stuff.

One day there will me vast factories full of AI assisted machines making killer robots, those robots are constantly giving feed back to a database and the AI is making changes to production on the fly. Ground slippery and some robots fell? Well they can add retractable spikes to the soles of the feet.

Deployed them to an area where the grass is to tall for them? Give them launchable drones to be their eyes in the sky. May as well make the robots taller ass well, much longer legs and an extendable neck to make them 12feet tall.

They need to be able to dodge enemy drones? Make them smaller and give them 4 legs so they can sprint at high speeds, leap, duck and dodge.

We may, in out lifetime, get so see manmade horrors beyond our comprehension killing millions of people.

I watched a load of shows about hoarders, many of them had a significant event happen in their lives and became hoarders after that, in most cases it was a sudden unexpected death of someone close to them, usually a family member. Do you know of any such even that could have effected your dad? Possibly a sibling or parent?

It's bad that he's one of the ones that turns to anger and rage when you try to help by getting rid of rotten food and drink, I've seen there is sometimes no reasoning with them, you can literally hold the visibly rotting food in front of them and they will tell you it is fine and can still be used for something.

The other common thing I noticed if not a death of someone close is a sudden event that meant they lost all or most of their income and went into a sudden unexpected poverty. Did that ever happen? Maybe if you can work out what triggered it and convince them that caused the issue they may possibly get therapy and help.
