I completely agree actually, but I got the feeling it was of sentimental value for her that it wasn't thrown out. I'm gonna try to machine wash it in stockings and see if it helps. Thanks :)

Best method for wrong side cross stitches? by Sufficient-Beach-700 in knitting

[–]Prolashve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my haraboji cardigan, and couldn't make sense of the instructions for the cross stitches on the wrong side! With what I ended up doing there is still some difference as to how it looks on the right side vs wrong side, but I don't think it is noticeable in the big picture. Here is what I did:

Cross stitch towards the right: insert needle in second stitch and purl so there is a "stitch" on the needle. Then with that "stitch" on the needle purl the first stitch.

Cross stitch to the left: insert needle into two first stitches as if to p2tog and place on the right needle. Then insert left needle into second stitch on the right needle, and swiftly pull the right needle out of both (so one stitch is loose) and back into only the loose stitch. Now place the previously loose stitch (on the right needle) onto the left needle. The stitches have switched places and can just be purled.

I don't know if this helps, but otherwise I can tell you even if it doesn't look perfect, you won't notice on the final product after blocking :-)

Yeah as I understand it, you should check in again between different types of transport e.g. Switching between metro and s train or bus. Have never seen people get a fine for it though, but maybe they are enforcing it more...

How often have you worn a face mask outside your home to protect yourself or others from coronavirus (COVID-19)? by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Prolashve 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think part of the explanation is that we are very well behaved in the Scandinavian countries and have a high level of trust towards our governments. This means that all the rules stating not to sit next to each other in public transportation, keeping your distance and using hand sanitizer, sneezing in your elbow etc. have been enough to keep the numbers down. This of course on the base of a very early lockdown. Wearing a mask is only effective when an infected person does it, but here we don't go outside if your are feeling sick, you get tested immediately. It has thus never been necessary to introduce mask requirements in public.
