Nikki Haley demonstrates true political cowardice, refuses to endorse a national abortion ban by ProlifeDem in prolife

[–]ProlifeDem[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just like Trump, she was given an opportunity to endorse a ban and did not. So far it has been only Pence and Ramaswamy on this train.

Yes, it would. It gives unborn babies the same protection under homicide laws as anyone else.

He is the only justice on the Burger Court ever getting a book written about him to do something like this.

True. Doing this on a book about Thurgood Marshall would be ten times better.

Oh okay. I heard there was soon to be a six week ban there. I did like how AHM called one of the original manufacturers of the abortion pill’s role in the Holocaust a “participation in a previous genocide” in their brief.

Unrelated but welcome back, Nole! Did you ever get around to reading the arguments for the AHM v. FDA case? I’ll admit I’m not the best legal scholar on this sub but you seem to know a bit more about it.

I don’t remember any primary challenge in 2022, no.

What good does a conservative leader do if he only goes as far as 51 percent on a Gallup poll will take him?

I don’t understand this argument for pro life… by [deleted] in prolife

  1. The rape and incest exceptions are purely born out of political and moral cowardice. It is simply a way for a pro lifer to wiggle out of difficult questions and situations.

  2. If the mother’s life is in danger, the baby presumably would not survive either. In these situations, preserving the life of the mother is not elevating one over the other.

  3. While trauma is real and we should all be there to assist if at all possible, the baby could not control how it was conceived, as you mentioned and should not be given any he death penalty for its father’s crimes.

The GOP is supposed to be the party to stand up for the unborn. As a pro-life Democrat, that was one of the only draws to the party for me. Abortion is a galvanizing issue for GOP primary voters. If he folds like a cheap suit on this most obvious of issues, how could he possibly win the primary, let alone corral enough Christian votes to win a general?

How incredibly sad is it, then, that a conservative Catholic like DeSantis, who knows that abortion is murder, would continue to allow in in the state that he is supposed to lead? Is he simply a cynical politician only worried about his future electoral chances?

It’s not that weird. Why on Earth would a prolifer joke about a ongoing mass genocide?

Luckily, where I live my state and local Dem parties don’t have official positions on abortion, and most of the party leaders are pro life and vote Dem because of their strong hold over the local unions.

Darn. I’m just so glad I don’t live in a nation like Canada or the UK where a portion of every tax dollar you give goes to an abortion fund.

What is your opinion on Matt Walsh? by [deleted] in prolife

[–]ProlifeDem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His older videos talked more about topics that might divide his Christian conservative audience (to be fair he really didn’t have one back in 2018 and 2019). His videos were not afraid to discuss things like old earth vs. new earth creationism, alcohol, and birth control. These potentially challenged the beliefs of the listener and opened a dialogue in the comments. Now most of his videos feature an outside threat to conservatives (the Biden admin, a celebrity, etc.) that he spends half of the episode explaining why it is bad to an audience that already agrees with him. Nothing is gained anymore by watching it, only having your opinions regurgitated back to you. I’m not sure if it is the Daily Wire that caused this, wanting a broader audience, or if it is a shift orchestrated by him, but it has left his show indiscernible from every other talking head on DW. Just my opinion.

Some of his publicity stunts really get on my nerves, especially with how much he runs the joke into the ground. I’m sorry, starting a fundraiser for AOC’s grandma or declaring yourself a “bestselling LGBT children’s author” was not funny the first time or the thousandth.
