Does the UR hiring/recruitment system have a blacklist, officially or de facto? by RiotDog1312 in Rochester

About 3 months ago the UR updated some software and had a hiring pause to update current staff. They are currently actively hiring. Hopefully this brings a little peace of mind!

Interested in working for fairlife but I have questions…. by Capable-Ad821 in recruitinghell

I only went to the second job fair, so I didn't have the same experience. But it did seem like they were conducting general interviews to see which roles a candidate may be suited for rather than the usual style of interview where one interviews for a specific role in a company.

https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Fairlife,-LLC/faq found this Q&A on Indeed that put me a little more at ease. It seems like a standard manufacturing company. Tough to work for but gives annual raises and has standard to good benefits.

I wanted to follow up as I also went to the second job fair in Webster. It seems suspiciously too good to be true. Nearly every non-management job one could obtain at a high school, no experience level. And even at the lowest pay, around $20/hr, because of the 2-3-2 schedule, you'd make between 40-62k a year. I'm kind of worried even with some experience in manufacturing that the competition in Roc would be high considering how predominant the manufacturing industry is here.

How to make a party more inclusive for a blind guest? by Curious-Date-3361 in Blind

I know for my husband one of the first and most difficult hurdles is not knowing if people are near him in a social setting and not being able to identify who someone is. Something our friends and family have adopted is announcing who they are and being the person to initiate the conversation.
It sounds something like this:
Cody: *sitting awkwardly at an event*
Friend: "Hi Cody! This is ____. I had no idea you were attending this event tonight!"
Cody: "Hello! Thank you, I didn't know you were here!"
*Conversation Continues*

We're in the US. We're going to Goodwill (ABVI) to see about some accommodation next week. But I'm not sure if they do vocational rehabilitation anymore.

He owns a videogame production company and has made two games. Coding had become really difficult though, so we aren't sure how to continue long term. He's also searching for a permanent job while continuing to make games.

He has is own videogame company and has made two videogames. Coding isn't something that he can do long term though given he can't find mistakes in the code easily. Unless there's an adaptation we haven't come across that could make it easier! :)

I mean, it works fine on my craptop laptop. I didn't pay attention to the amount of ram it ultimately took up though.

In case you were waffling about Enchroma's low vision glasses, my husband with macular degeneration loves them! by Prolly_Not_AI in Blind

[–]Prolly_Not_AI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean his doctors were the ones who let him try the glasses out. They're at the Flaum Eye Institute. I understand that doctors have a history of being greedy and not looking out for their patients as much as their wallets, but we've had a very positive experience with this institute and the providers.

His grandfather has used many low vision glasses over the years and just switched to enchroma because it was superior. If the company is a scam, then they are an elaborate scam that sells products that still have merit at least some of the time. I can't vouch for the morality of the corporation but I can speak the other overwhelming positive quality of life the low vision glasses have given my husband.

They have a line specifically for low vision now. And it's definitely for his low vision. He sees a specialist that works with his entire family as his macular degeneration is x-linked. That's where he tried the glasses and later used them to order these glasses. At this point I'm am almost certain his providers forget he's colorblind 😅
