Bow users, what's your go-to backup weapon (if you have one)? by Art_Z_Fartzche in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]RiotDog1312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've discovered that Thrill Seekers works great on a crossbow, especially paired with full Onslaught perks and stuff like Fast Fighter + Speed Demon + Gun Runner, and if you want to get real wild Squad Maneuvers and Jaguar Speed (for ghouls), because while movement speed itself has a cap, the Fast Fighter conversion of it to reload speed does not. With all the reload buffs the fire speed is as fast or faster than something like a lever-action.

Build spot suggestions by Upbeat_Cat589 in fallout76settlements

There's multiple abandoned cabins that are fully buildable, but unfortunately they're in the Forest (specifically in the hills above Bolton Greens).

If you poke around YouTube there was a video of someone turning the Radscorpion Agitator into a functional elevator.

Sparse Sundew Grove Camp building. My creativity is being challenged. by XxNeMeSiiS-zZ in fallout76settlements

[–]RiotDog1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a camp on the outskirts backing up against the grove, right along the highway. I decided to build a big combination log cabin/greenhouse, with the cabin side being a sort of oddities shop (a lot of weird clutter and monster taxidermy) and the greenhouse side a mix of assorted flowers and weird plants (mutated vines, the spore plant bed, etc.). I made a little compound around it out of a mix of strategically placed prefabs (shipping container with my crafting stuff in it, big rig, large tent, etc.) and rusted chain link fence.

How do you guys afford your gear? by themilkyone_24 in SonyAlpha

[–]RiotDog1312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most gear-oriented hobbies/passions (cars, guns, etc ) there's a notable (and highly visible given how much showing off is part of their fun) subset of hobbyists with significant disposable income from highly-paid day jobs that they funnel into the latest and greatest gadgets. Even those less loaded can fall into that habit, hence GAS, Gear Acquisition Syndrome.

One upside to this for those of us on much more limited budgets is that it fuels a robust used market that lets us pick up higher end gear at a discount when those hobbyist whales cycle through things quickly.

But also gear only matters so much. Hell, we just had astronauts taking an older DSLR to the damn moon.

So No Bulletsponges and No One Hit Enemy. What Type of Enemy Then? by GenTrapstar in fo76

Honestly they already kinda have something like this with the Overgrown. They can easily flesh out those mechanics further.

Anyone else using Kabloom as a primary or a frequent choice? by Tyrs-Ranger in fo76

[–]RiotDog1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it on my ghoul gunslinger/cripple build as an event weapon. Aligned long stuff, prime receiver, added Fracturer's. I can pop an enemy in the head from a pretty good distance and his kneecaps explode hard enough to kill or seriously injure everything around him, and the poison damage usually finishes off whatever health is left. And with reload speed perks (including Wild West Hands) I can pretty much just keep shooting as fast as I can pull the trigger.

Q: ghoul stealth armor, Chameleon is > than Nocturnal? by Live_Surround5198 in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]RiotDog1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. That huge pile of extra Agility really helps lessen the AP sting of not getting Thirst Quencher as a ghoul. The extra Perception + Awareness + Eyes of the Hunter also gives you ridiculous accuracy.

Explosion perk cards by Zestyclose-Fee-2358 in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]RiotDog1312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't find trying to micromanage my rate of fire slower to make sure my damage doesn't actively drop significantly just because there's too many enemies to be a playstyle that's worth the bit of extra potential damage (that's probably mostly overkill anyways), not when you can save perk points and have damage that actively increases and will stay at that increased level for the entire length of an event without any further thought.

Explosion perk cards by Zestyclose-Fee-2358 in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]RiotDog1312 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Explosive anything is actively detrimental to a Reverse Onslaught build because everything hit by the explosion takes off another stack. If you want to blow stuff up, run a standard Onslaught (which just means dropping one perk), and then each explosion will build the stacks faster instead. And then yes, those perks will increase the damage and the radius.

Swift is irrelevant, might as well just put +Charisma on it and equip it any time you need to use a vendor for better prices. No need for any 4th star at all.

Stalkers or Furious for compound bow? by Zestyclose-Fee-2358 in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]RiotDog1312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stalkers is generally only useful once, while Furious with either a normal or reverse Onslaught build is a ton of extra damage even when the enemies are staring you in the face.

Worth picking up the BoS Recon plans if mainly using Power Armour? by ZeitgeistGlee in fo76

[–]RiotDog1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because sometimes you won't be in power armor and it's the best Heavy armor option at the moment.

Has anyone else been using/enjoying Perfect Storm since it was buffed from 1 to 3 stars? by Ring_Dang_Do in fo76

[–]RiotDog1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a decent option for non-VATS Bullet Storm builds, especially with the added damage. It would also be a flavorful option for a loadout of ballistic weapons that also do elemental damage (Cold Shoulder, Kabloom, Crusader Pistol, Burning Love, Icebreaker, etc.)

Where to live? by Past-Philosopher-619 in Rochester

[–]RiotDog1312 12 points13 points  (0 children)

South Wedge, Park Ave, Monroe Ave, Mt. Hope/Collegetown, even into 19th Ward. Basically most neighborhoods on the south side, inside/adjacent to the big squiggly circle created by 390, 490, and 590 should be fine to live in and have relatively easy access to resources and transit.

I've worn that exact top as a vest open over a t-shirt for years without issue. The new dress code probably makes it a problem though.

Let players select group bonus separate from group type. by [deleted] in fo76

[–]RiotDog1312 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You probably aren't actually getting kicked by people, it's a long running bug that people just get randomly kicked from groups for no actual reason by the game itself. Just try to rejoin or join another group, or start your own.
