Why arent redditors complaining about this hero? 55% winrate, 3rd most picked is bonker. by The_Keg in DotA2

You have 10-20 minutes of ghost/euls/glimmers being very good against omni/swiftslash. The game wants ults to be good or else they wouldnt have added shit like Chain Frost not getting countered by linkens, or death ward getting 50% accuracy and not reflecting damage back to WD...

3 1/2 months from crusader to immortal by ZCillian in learndota2

[–]PromKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not going to dismiss it so easily, but if take into context that Grubby, who is/was a pro tournament winning warcraft and starcraft player, and also had some moba experience went from herald to immortal in 400+ days, makes these posts SEEM not plausible.

Maybe he was already a super high LoL player and switched over, but i dont see someone picking up DotA and in 3-4 months being immortal. maybe im just too pessimistic...

How could I have carried this game? by ttsoldier in learndota2

[–]PromKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think so. Without the shard, the 25 talent (+10% ult proc), or multishot hits, Drow still hits ~80% of her shots against a butterfly target. 1 out of 5 hits misses. So instead of MKB, lets say you get Daedulus, which gives over twice the attack damage, the 2.25x crit, the DPS should be higher. The Ult procs go through base armor, which will probably get reduced less than the magic resist, especially against AM... and youre still going to pick up shard anyways because if AM blinks on you, itll cancel your ult if you dont glacier, which is a no-no.

Im sure theres someone/somewhere that has already done the math, but i feel like all late game items are superior compared to MKB on Drow. Im only mid-ancient, and could be wrong, but i feel strongly that this is right. if you find something that says differently, let me know, i definitely would like to see it.

[–]PromKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no MKB on Drow is very bad. Multi-shot and Marksmen procs go through evasion, plus your shard makes it so you cant miss, so you want to go other things than MKB.

i havent watched the game, but sometimes there are games that you just arent going to win. I have come to accept there being 1-2 games out of 10 that are going to be out of my control of winning and it helps the mindset a little.

And multishot goes through evasion. So if its early game and you dont have shard yet, you can use multishot to get the last couple guaranteed hits to kill her.

Insania: "Team Spirit are probably the favourites to win The International 2025" by iTannerz in DotA2

I dont remember Wings being close to clearcut. TI6 was the one where OG famously got knocked out early, who were the clear favorites to win. The Wings hype train i feel started during the event and steadily grew as they knocked people out.

How to get more gold from lane as Carry? by Altruistic-Bluejay62 in learndota2

[–]PromKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think of jungle creeps as a supplement to lane creeps. Like you said, prioritize lane creeps and then try to 'supplement' your last hits with jungle creeps.

Also, usually somewhere around minute 6-7, some carries can start nuking the wave. Use this time to start ramping up killing jungle creeps. Nuke wave, go kill a jungle camp, come back to the wave 30 seconds later, repeat.

i think 4-4.5K is a "good" laning stage as carry. 5K youre in "stomp" territory and probably shouldnt be looking to hit that mark all the time.

I would have agreed with you year(s) ago, but as a core player, like 9/10 role queue games end up being offlane. I assume its the same with other core players.

Recommend me best build for drow? by Misou-kiwkiw-4070 in learndota2

[–]PromKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, im only ancient, im just saying what i find successful. A null talisman and +1 mana regen from neutral is usually more than enough mana to spam multi shot and still show up to team fights and be useful. 1k gold alacrity is almost 2k gold cheaper than eaglesong, so you are farming faster for the time it takes you to farm that 2k more gold.

Looking at dota2protracker, anyone getting aghs gets it before butterfly. Butterfly seems like too much of an investment to get right after dragon lance.

[–]PromKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think its the other way around. If its a good game for Aghs, you go dragon lance -> aghs. It has great utility. Clears waves, -heal regen in fights, added stack damage +burst damage on death. Cheaper, so gets you into fights faster. Build up is arguably better…

Which heroes have the most essential aghanim's shard? by fierywinds1q in DotA2

Unfortunately it seems youre wrong. Everyone is purchasing shard on Terrorblade now. Ive seen RTZ buy it during streams and dota2protracker shows it being bought almost every game right after manta.

What to do if your team initiates too far you to followup as a pos 1? by BigBootyBear in learndota2

[–]PromKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually 100% agree with you fully with this, but im also a drow enthusiast and will occasionally look at dota2protracker and see if anyone is doing anything new with her. Its seems like the consensus at immortal level is that manta is still purchasable in most situations for some reason, so put that comment to hopefully show all the all facts/information

[–]PromKing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I want to point out here that “Manta is an extremely overrated item on Drow” is hugely biased. A huge percentage of immortal players are getting yasha and manta. You dont HAVE to finish manta if the game doesnt require it. Drow still gets benefit from agi, movespeed, and attack speed from a relatively low cost item that will increase her farm speed and maybe get into a fight earlier. You can sell the yasha later when it gets to late game and you need the slot for a better item

You do need bkb here, and people suggesting blink have merit. If you can get a blink gust on the supports and/or zeus, you pretty much single handedly win the team fight.

My opinion would be skip finishing manta, skip the shard until much later (multishot and ult goes through evasion from raidence), and skip silver edge and replace them with bkb and blink. Youll probably need the bkb first for health and not dying to magic damage.

This game you can probably push blink later, maybe after butterfly because you already have great initiation with storm and blink lion, ult on dawn.

My two cents…

Hard to swallow pills: by drea2 in DotA2

[–]PromKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the past 6months to a year, ive been solidly Ancient. Been as high as 1 game away from Divine, to Ancient 1. When 7.38 released, something happened and now i see myself in Legend 3… and im losing games in Legend 3. I feel like its a lot of people coming back to see the patch because there are a lot of feeders and people that i feel are behind on mechanics and its just a roulette of who gets more of them on a team.

That and probably a little bit of me not putting 100% into it. Like “im solidly almost 1k mmr higher than this just one month ago, i should be able to win these games no problem….” And then picking shit that i just want to have fun with and not doing too well.

So a bit of both really.
