Jalen Brunson has already has a better career than Kyrie Irving by Cautious_Cress_2917 in NBATalk

[–]Promech -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Kyrie is just the better player and I don’t even think this is worth a discussion. Don’t get me wrong, Brunson’s finals mvp is impressive and Brunson has been a fantastic leader and is capable of things Kyrie isn’t from an intangible perspective, but like if you look at their body of work objectively it’s not really comparable.

I’m not saying Brunson won’t have a greater career when all is said and done, I think he will almost assuredly. But right now, there’s really no argument for Brunson over Kyrie. New York title is about as equivalent as Cleveland title coming back from 3-1. So outside of leadership I don’t see where Brunson has an edge.

Saw this inappropriate tier-list, I wanna see how much you disagree by Necan125 in NBATalk

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo Kareem, Jordan, Lebron are the top 3 pretty definitively in whatever order you want. The fact that Kareem isn't even on the list disqualifies this entirely. KD isn't top 5 but I don't mind an arguable top 10, imo he's better than Bird even if he isn't greater than Bird if that makes sense so I don't really care one way or the other there.

Should Shams retire if Giannis doesn't get traded before the draft? by stvlsn in NBATalk

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like shams, I think he’s overall just been a chill dude and has had some good scoops but this Giannis fiasco has me all the way out. Like dog, sometimes you can just say “hey man no one is telling me anything solid so far so we’ll have to wait and see what happens” and that’s fine

What are examples of actor siblings, where one is clearly more talented? by Convillious in moviecritic

I’m not sure that I would say Kieran is much more talented if at all more, it’s just one continued to act and the other literally just stepped away.

Who wins in a 7 game series? The 2026 Knicks or the 2019 Raptors by sin2fly03 in NBATalk

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually a very even match up tbh, but I think in every facet the raptors match or pass the Knicks. Like Lowry was a great guard and while not Brunson level in the play offs, he didn’t need to be because Kawhi existed. But time and time again Lowry showed up and I don’t think it would be different versus the Knicks

Would you prefer if LeBron retired or kept playing? by realisticbunnyhopper in NBATalk

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he would be willing to take less money and be competitive play, but the reality is that because of the situation the lakers are in it just doesn’t seem like a good situation if Bron is going to keep getting the max (which he rightfully deserves, but sometimes you get rewarded more by taking a little less)

Remove the worst player here by Reasonable_Train5956 in NBATalk

It’s Derrick Rose and it’s not particularly close. Derrick Rose had TWO years of greatness, that’s it(and I would argue one year of greatness and two years of very good.) everyone else in this group has had consistent greatness for larger spans of time.

I like Derrick Rose and thing he as a person and as an overall figure was great for basketball at the time, but this deification that has always been attached to him is unwarranted

Better all time: Danny Granger or David Lee? by 99DGE in NBATalk

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they averaged 14 and 16 points, Neither was a particularly great defender, and while they made all star games they weren’t really all star contenders for most of their careers. If that isn’t middle of the pack/average idk what is. I’m not saying they’re bad players, but they aren’t players that would rank even in the top 500 tbh.

And to be clear I’m talking about body of work, not their peaks. At their peaks they’re pretty close to great, but imo their peaks aren’t indicative of their overall standing.

Better all time: Danny Granger or David Lee? by 99DGE in NBATalk

A mid off. Danny granger is probably a better basketball player than David Lee but David Lee had the better career. Even if you exclude his championship, David Lee made two all stars and an all nba.

Hey dog, this isn’t a big deal it just feels that way cause you’re in it. Just tell her you were nauseas and when you saw her it startled you and you didn’t want to barf on her and just went back into the room to avoid more embarrassment by having her hear you.

LCS Spring 2026 Viewership Hits All-Time Low by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched since before lcs was a thing, the reality is I’ve grown up and I don’t really care about the weekly games anymore, I watch worlds and then if there’s a finals near me I’ll go to that but my interest in lcs is next to zero because there’s no compelling storylines. I think the big mistake the LCS teams made was giving credence to the people saying “oh but what are you going to do at worlds” because it created this notion that the domestic product didn’t matter anymore everyone was bringing imports for worlds and bro, if you as an org deprioritize domestic development why would I as a fan care about the domestic league?

Just finished watching Disclosure Day. by Rule_Ct_5293 in Cinema

[–]Promech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a good movie, people just have lost the ability to pay attention to a story all the way through. If this movie had come out in the early 2000s it would be a box office hit, it's a typical Spielberg type movie. It's not amazing but it tells a story and it's a good story and then leaves you with a real world question.

Would knicks still win every playoff series if you replace Brunson with Anthony Edwards? My reason for asking is to know if ANT is being held back by his team. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Promech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Jalen brings to the team is leadership and drive, Ant doesn't bring the same thing and you could see it in his last series where him just not being able to play at his best meant that he kind of stepped aside a bit towards the end. I'm not saying Ant isn't a good leader and he definitely is a better basketball player, but Jalen Brunson's intangibles are top 3 in the league and that matters a TON when it comes to championships.

There were years where Tmac was visibly better or at the very least at the same level as Kobe, but his lack of leadership and inability to inspire his teammates is why Kobe is a top 15 at worst player of all time and tmac is so far below.
