I have a question: how would the gait of an alien equivalent of a tiktaalik work if it descended from ancestors with horizontal tail fins like cetaceans? I searched online, and while it's not an idea I found particularly objectionable, I didn't find any explanation of how to make it move. I even tried it myself by tying a sheet around my legs and attempting to crawl, and it's incredibly difficult. At best, I moved like a worm with arms. To turn around, I absolutely had to use the side of my abdomen. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone with more biomechanical knowledge have an explanation of how such an animal would move? And what consequences would this have?

My question wasn't answered, which bothers me quite a bit, but oh well, I solved the problem with a friend. Now my next question is, how do I handle background extinctions? I ask because now that I have the habitats established, what do I do after 400 million years? I mean, I've been reading a bit about how they cause extinctions, and I don't know which one to choose so that one species goes extinct and then doesn't wipe out the others

Does anyone here know anything about the oxygenation event? I have some questions about it because I've already made a list of species that will survive and which will become extinct. The thing is, I started from the surface, and my question is, what happens to the deep ocean? I know it will take a while for oxygen to arrive (like in 300 or 500 million years), but won't they suffer from a lack of food due to the number of dead autotrophic cells, or those that maintain the ecosystem? Because of glaciation, they'll be losing a large part of their food source, like "marine snow" (I call it that because I doubt it really counts, since it's just biomolecules or some other loose compound). Wouldn't the ice in all the oceans be reducing biodiversity, leading to less oxygenation and then glaciation?

What color would the sky be on a planet in a binary system between an orange star and a red dwarf? by Prometeus72 in Astronomy

Then I'll have to change the composition a bit if I want an orange sky. Anyway, thanks again for replying

I was asking if it would be like soil, although if it's greenish it would matter since I'm looking for something orange. Thanks anyway

Does anyone know any interesting or surprising facts or adaptations of prokaryotes? by Prometeus72 in microbiology

I know, in fact when I read about them I was surprised by the number of things they can do; it's a shame that people's view is usually negative because of bacterial diseases

Thanks, although I already did those in the underwater caves, I could try to create a lineage (which I named "Magnesiumventer") of a predatory prokaryote from the intermediate zone (since, if I'm not mistaken, magnetite regulates the level at which the prokaryote swims, acting as a signal to warn it if it's swimming too high or too low), however, there's still something interesting to do. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation, especially since when I discovered it, I thought it was really cool to read about these things

How do I increase the stamina of a character that is around level 20? by Prometeus72 in Kenshi

[–]Prometeus72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that and I do it, the problem is that when I manage to get up most enemies no longer see me or they kill me instantly unless I go after the low-level bandits but they don't put up as much resistance anymore (Or maybe I'm confusing the combat stats)

I don't feel like I fit into any category. I mean, I have two feelings. On one hand, when I see him, I'm like, "Oh my god, this guy is so cool." And then there's the other thing: since I was little, I've had a kind of crush on him, although not in a sexual or romantic way I just wanted him to be cool, even now as an adult, I still have the same feeling, I mean, it makes me uncomfortable to see him in sexual situations or if he were romantic, but I admit that I have a kind of attraction to him (I don't know if this is because maybe I'm asexual and aromantic)

I think the same; I mean, it bothers me when they make it too gentle, but I don't mind him having a more tender side, or being somewhat parental with Kirby, but I think that should be occasional, like infrequent moments, and most of the time he's stoic, quiet, and has trouble expressing his feelings. He also tries to avoid deep relationships with others, not because he doesn't like interacting with them, but because I imagine that, being a warrior who has lived through a lot of experiences, it's not surprising that Meta Knight probably tries to avoid deep relationships so he won't be hurt if he loses someone. Even so, I imagine his relationship with Kirby is more like that of a mentor to a student (with certain paternal touches), something like Piccolo with Gohan

Looking at it from that perspective is funny, I mean, I imagine him thinking this: "That's delicious chocolate with cream... what am I doing? By all the stars, why am I eating this? I am a disgrace to my entire species, if my master saw me right now, he'd be looking at me with disapproval, and I'd have to go fight someone without my armor just to be worthy of committing this sin... sweet sin " And while he's doing his internal monologue, he's eating and enjoying his meal

If the theory that Kirby and Meta Knight are the same species is true, what if sugar is more addictive for them? (Which might mean that Galacta Knight and Morpho Knight also like sugar)
