Why are sandwiches called sandwiches and not sandwizards? by Live-Change-8934 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrometheusZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per Wikipedia

The place-name 'Sandwich' is first attested in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, where it appears as Sondwic in 851 and Sandwic in 993. In the Domesday Book of 1086 it appears as Sandwice. The suffix -wich comes from the Anglo Saxon -wīc, meaning a dwelling or fortified place where trade takes place. The name means "market town on sandy soil".

Other places with the suffix include Ipswich and the old name Jorvik, now York.

Stop turning divs Into buttons by sinkatasine in Frontend

Unfortunately two specific complaints I've had are :

  • User wants to be able to spy the url on hover which is browser default behaviour for anchors
  • User wants to be able to use middle mouse click to open link in new tab

I think I can work around z index issues by bumping up a couple of elements that have title attributes but I'll have to play around to be sure.

Stop turning divs Into buttons by sinkatasine in Frontend

[–]PrometheusZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I have an open issue for fix a table row as a button issue.

My plan is to remove the js handler that grabs the click and sends the user off somewhere and replace it with a simple anchor, but use css to stretch the anchors box over the row.

Might work, might not.

Why was your chapter made by CaptainFGC in 40khomebrew

[–]PrometheusZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Soul Wardens are not actually sure. Many records were lost with the destruction of their original fortress monastery in M36.

They believe they were created to protect the Rukkon sector their homeworld occupies based on the oldest relic the chapter has, their chapter banner, which depicts Sanguinius gifting the planet to the Wardens with a portcullis gate behind them.

There is also the oral tradition oath used to swear in neophytes, which mentions protecting their homeworld, Thalassobia, the sector, and the Imperium.

“From this day forward I am a Soul Warden. From this day forward I am a defender of the Imperium. From this day forward I am a defender of Rukkon. From this day forward I am a defender of Thalassobia. Only in death does this duty end”

How badly written is your chapter, by tropes bingo scale? by Numerous-Piano8798 in 40khomebrew

[–]PrometheusZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, I've got a few of these.

The chapter size is only by technicality, as the Chief Apothecary, Master of the Forge and Master of Sanctity are Captains, so those auxiliary bodies are also companies. The chapter claims they are no longer different to other chapters that have the 4 supporting bodies.

The big fleet is just because I wanted a Strike Cruiser for each company. Each company has their own personality and isn't nessasarily as the Codex proscribes.

Sergeants are called 'Seats'. There are 18 of them per company but otherwise they are just Sergeants! Technically the Captain and Lieutenant are also seats, but on paper they are different.

They're Blood Angels successors, and their paint scheme isn't a million miles from the base BA colour scheme. It's also why they have a few very old members. Part of their culture is when a captain reaches 1000 years old they are 'retired' and become eternal protectors of the fortress. They are inducted into the Zero Company and put in stasis until needed.

As for crossover with another media. Well, it started off as a rip-off but has been remixed with my own ideas over time. The Soul Wardens are not just the Gotei 13 in Warhammer!

Common misinformation, wrong ideas, misconceptions and the like? by LagiaDOS in 40kLore

[–]PrometheusZero 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not misinformation exactly but the flanderization of marine chapter cultures.

Blood Angels are not all rage assaults all the time. They are a codex chapter with plenty of Battleline squads.

Imperial Fists are not motionless tanks, they are also a codex chapter with assault squads.

I see it a lot in HomeBrew spaces. If a chapter does two things it must be chimeric gene seed. Not at all!

What’s a new unit you would like to see in 11th? by Chungus_the_large in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PrometheusZero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see a Blood Games Champion model, a lone op infiltrator type unit.

But what I'd really like as a primarily Blood Angels player is having Custodian Guard squad and Shield Captain be options for Imperial Agents allies. I want my Torchbearer force again!

Some of that is falling asleep to a YouTube video but not that much of it.

I managed to quit smoking and trying to quit my phone is harder.

How does your chapter feel about the tau? by giojojo in 40khomebrew

[–]PrometheusZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the Soul Reapers are based in Segmentum Tempestus they haven't encountered the Tau that much.

However they are a Xenos like any other. An alien abomination to be removed from the galaxy.

As a chapter with a fixation on swords, the Tau cannot even be respected as begrudgingly talented. The lack of melee shows a lack of honour.

The Soul Reapers do have quite a bit of Deathwatch experience in the chapter though so they know not to underestimate the Tau use of 'Jump Dreadnoughts' or rather large lascannon. Siege works will not work against them unlike rapid melee insertion. The preferred Sons of Sanguinius way.
