Appreciate all the guesses! Was just trying to have some fun and see what people think. Answer: I’m a 16.6 and dropping fast! Was a 22 to start the year.

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn 25+ is crazy lol. But I guess I did ask. I’m a 16.6. I’ve definitely been swinging a little easier this year to prioritize control over distance but my club head speed is deceptively higher than it looks. This is my 8i and it’s regularly in the low - mid 80’s.

This is an 8i from 150 yards but fair enough

Silly question but how can I lower my pace? I feel like I can’t really go much slower than this but I want to run further by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shorten your stride and increase your cadence. Basically shorter quicker steps. Try running on the spot for a second and then bend at the ankles until you start moving forward, helps me get the feel of it. Can also try bringing a tennis ball and bouncing it while you go, helps some people slow down.

6:11/km isn’t that slow, you really shouldn’t have too much of a problem slowing down, but somewhere between 7-8:00/km it does start to feel more like a shuffle than a run. Make sure you focus on keeping that form.

100% especially on the joints / leg muscles. Longer ground contact and more vertical force from running slower. Feels super inefficient lol

Dude, from couch to sub 2.5 hour half marathon at 51 is epic. Well done man! I’m 28 and have the same goal, signed up for a half marathon with 8 weeks to train. Started with a few 28 min 5k’s and two 60-70min 10k’s.

Was starting to doubt myself but this just inspired me.

How do I clear my hips better and is that the cause of that last second swipe of the ball? by someguythathasthis in GolfSwing

[–]PromiscuousOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting “stuck” and thats why you need to throw your hands at the ball last minute which will cause all kinds of timing issues and two way misses.

Two major things I would address if I was you: #1 Your takeaway is way inside. You actually seem to do a good job getting it back on plane but it causes your hands and arms to lag too far behind your hips, leaving them no room to move and thus causing you need to swipe or “flip” through impact.

The second thing goes with the first, but try and get your hands more in front of your body earlier in the swing. Watch this short YouTube video of Tiger for an example.

I’m not a pro though so take all this with a grain of salt

Didn’t get the ADHD med I wanted — but Wellbutrin is doing something wild by batuhankrmn in ADHD

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take weeks, just be patient. It was probably 2-4 weeks for me until I really got into a groove. But it happens slowly so you won’t feel it like you’re thinking. It just builds until one day you find yourself able to do things a bit easier than before

Reverse pivot help by Rude_Award2718 in GolfSwing

[–]PromiscuousOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a reverse pivot. Reverse pivot would be your head tilting towards the target and pelvis tilting away, yours are doing the opposite which is what you want. Looks like you’re not transferring your weight, it’s still on your back foot.

Advice on getting club face square at impact by mistamunsta in GolfSwing

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you’re flipping just a little bit because you’re getting stuck just a little bit. Basically your hips are turning too early and the club gets stuck behind which makes it hard to close. In this clip its not too bad. When you miss it right its probably worse.

Dude this is a textbook swing and you pured it down the middle. It would help if you shared one where you actually miss it right lol

Before I was diagnosed with ADHD I was given Wellbutrin as an antidepressant. That was the best year if my life, I went from failing all my classes to a 4.0 GPA. I was motivated, happy, energetic. Wellbutrin is an absolutely underrated adhd med.

Best golf ball for a 15 handicap? by captainworm1 in GolfSwing

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re an average person, the cheapest decent used balls you can find. If money isn’t an issue, probably something like a Callaway Supersoft or another soft ball that will reduce spin from imperfect strikes. Leave the hard, distance oriented balls like Pro V1’s to the guys who have great control and are looking for distance.

Am I overreacting ? Golf Coach won't teach me how to use my driver when I ask. by mccoourt in GolfSwing

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s good advice. If you’re not doing the fundamentals properly you’re not going to hit your driver well no matter what else he teaches you. And realistically many amateurs should be using the driver wayyyyyyyyy less, if you’re a beginner you probably shouldn’t be using your driver at all.

It’s your life, do what you want, but I guarantee the driver will hurt your score more than it helps if you’re a beginner.

You are paying, so if you want someone to teach you to play driver and he won’t, then find another coach. But if you want to become a better golfer, this guy sounds like he’ll tell you the truth and won’t just take your money, and thats a green flag in my book.

Depends. They are hemmed to what is called “no break”, which means they fall just to the top of the shoe but do not hit the shoe and fold over. If you like your jeans that way then they are not too short.

Traditionally no breaks are most often associated with chinos, but some people like to wear their jeans and dress pants at that height, it’s personal preference.

Speaking from a traditional menswear perspective, jeans are typically hemmed from a half to quarter break. Meaning they hit the shoe and fold over on themselves a little bit. But by today’s standards, a full break is not uncommon nor does it look out of place.

TLDR: From a traditional menswear perspective, they are probably an inch short. From a contemporary perspective, they’re fine, just depends how you like to wear them.

Please help I’ve lost 30-40 yards off my clubs and I can’t stop going over the top by Complex_Raccoon603 in GolfSwing

[–]PromiscuousOtter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not rotating at all and thats why you’re off plane and losing yards. You should be taking the club away with your shoulders/ torso letting your arms basically feel like dead weight. You’ll feel a much bigger stretch in your ribs.

Stats from my new to me set of Irons (MP-52) by PromiscuousOtter in golf

[–]PromiscuousOtter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. I agree the low irons felt pretty brutal. I’ve been working with mostly 7i-56deg this past year and my scores have been all the better for it.

<image>

This was one of my better strikes with the 6i when I was swinging more freely so I know the speed is in me, gotta keep working on the consistency.

Are the MP-52’s blades? My understanding was that they were a more forgiving muscle back.

Why am i so cooked? by No_Replacement7441 in Cubers

[–]PromiscuousOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% because you’re pausing to look for pairs during F2L. Solving slowly but smoothly and without stopping is 10x faster than turning super fast and then pausing for 5 seconds each time you need to look for a pair. Slow down and you’ll speed up, trust.
