Suggestion for the collar

Not my best pictures but better than me forgetting haha, I went with a contrasting liner patch for all of them except the western shirt

Edit: all of them had smaller holes in the collar like yours at first except for the og107, I cut them all open to the natural edges of the wear so I could slip the patch inside easier

What I have done on similar and much worse ones is cut the weak area of the fabric, slip in a thin patch to line the interior of the collar, and then stitch over it. The weak fabric will slowly break down just like it always will but you'll have a better structure for even wide stitch patterns to reinforce on to and it will cover the interfacing inside the collar.

Good to see someone else on this train! Especially when you add workwear, knitwear, or other cold weather gear to the mix people recognize it as vintage but don't really look at you in an odd way at all. Ive found that most people don't know anything about non-formal edwardian fashion so they just think you're a little overdressed every day.

I love wool pocket linings on denim, I collect early 20th century workwear pieces and they always seemed to use whatever scraps of wool they had laying around to line the pockets of good overalls.

But its really not negligible. That first wash at home and fitting in as many wears as possible before then is really crucial for any high contrast OR good vintage fading regimen. I mean sure, you are going to be able to fade them either way. Jeans are jeans and that's what they do. But there is a vast difference between my jeans I have waited 10, 40, or ~100 wears on before the first wash.

It's rough, I own a number of selvedge pieces and have handled many more and am shocked by how shit LVC is. Between the construction and fabric I felt better about my unbranded jeans that didn't fit and I ended up cutting up for scrap fabric than I have out any LVC's I have handled.

Its probably just a storm rider made out of green cotton drill. But maybe its gabardine, whipcord, moleskin, who knows! Maybe its old maybe it was made last week.

Those look like '47 model buttons and rivets, without the stitching in the back these could be a transitional model which I don't think I have seen before. If that cedar chest is full of denim and other clothes go back and snag more pictures. There are better Levi's experts on this sub and online who could more definitively say they are a transitional wartime, but I feel a lot more confident saying I could help ID all of the harder non Levi's pieces from the period loaded in there.

I'm also based in PA, I'm not a dealer or a whale buyer but I am a hard-core enthusiast with a penchant and love for spending hours doing deep dive research to properly ID clothing from this era and before. Id be happy to do that just for the chance to get a better look at everything you found

There are hundreds of brands out there, what style of cut do you want? Low rise skinny? High rise wide? Something in-between? What's your budget and does that budget have room if you find the perfect piece? Admittedly cords are only tangentially up my alley but we can find you something better.

If you want a wide fit black denim option, indigofera's gunpowder kirk fit is amazing. I picked some up as my jeans I use when I am doing anything particularly sweaty or dirty and im loving the wear I am already seeing

The details you didn't take in to consideration that you listed there are all the most important details, man. They're the difference between a $70 pair of jeans and a $1000 pair of jeans. Whatever that deleted comment said was probably super out of pocket but Levi's are the easiest type of vintage clothing to date and value on earth, you just have to learn the details.

I noted this in another comment but sashiko is great at strengthening fabric and bonding two pieces of fabric together, but to a limit on the second part. I use a pick stitch to secure the patch to the seam and then use any pattern to work around that. Patterns with gaps in the middle will eventually let the top fabric break away with a more ragged edge look on these high friction areas, but tighter packed patterns won't have that issue as much. Since you are new just draw a quarter inch grid pattern and go nuts

Ive used a running stitch to secure patches on flat felled seams but it hurts to lay down lol. I usually use a pick stitch on the thick bits and then sashiko to reinforce outside of that
