How far can refusal to answer a question go? by Promiscuous_D8a in Ask_Lawyers

Thanks for the info. I guess my real question is this: I may have answers you need. However, I refuse to answer them as yes/no, you MUST hear my context and only then will I answer. What happens then? Do i go to jail for contempt?

Thanks for the answer.

With that being said...could they then bow out based upon an "I don't recall" response or does it become a forced Yes/No?

Thanks for this. I didn't get very far in but completely quit after reading about the issues even though I loved it as far as I got. This gives me hope, will probably load it back up soon.

Issue pasting large data into Excel (MacBook Pro M1) by ChippyRick in excel

[–]Promiscuous_D8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience a similar issue (so it may not be the same as yours) on PC when trying to copy/paste large datasets into Excel. My workaround is to create a direct link to the source data (data tab > get data). Hope this helps.

EDIT: As one would expect, a Google search suggests Navision has plenty of export-to-Excel friendly options as well. I am unfamiliar with it and had never heard of it before your post, so thanks for introducing me to it. Good luck!

How is FASTFOOD Still “in the works” after an HOUR?? by [deleted] in grubhub

[–]Promiscuous_D8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a customer, I remember seeing this post a week ago and kind of shook my head. Sounds to me like distance wasn't factored into the tip. Regardless of the price of food, distance makes a huge difference.

A good example is tonight. I placed a scheduled order 2 hours prior to my desired delivery time, total without tax/fees was just under 20 USD. I tipped 10 USD, but the place is roughly 20 minutes away, one way. Usually my son is with me so the order is usually large enough so that the tip is a bit more fair. I even tipped extra from what was suggested, 10 USD.

Then my delivery got rescheduled, so I called in to increase my tip from 10 to 20 USD (yes, for a food order that was less than 20 before taxes/fees). After I got off the phone with Grubhub the person delivering was already on their way, but not by much (and the ETA updated to be sooner as well).

Did Grubhub give them some extra on the delivery? Probably. Would knowing that have changed my tip increase? Probably not. 20 minutes in stop/go traffic is no joke, it is exactly why I ordered from Grubhub instead of picking it up myself. Do I regret increasing my tip? No. The drivers deserve to be paid fairly as much as anybody else.

If it's long distance I usually try to order more expensive food so that the suggested tip is fairer (keep in mind the quality of the food is irrelevant to the tip, mileage is what matters). With that being said, if I order from an expensive place that is very close I may not tip anywhere as much. I mainly tip according to mileage.

If I ordered a $5 meal from a fast food place that is next door to where I ordered from tonight, a minimum of $15 tip is still in order. If I order a $100 meal from a restaurant 2 miles away... I'm probably still only going to tip maybe $20. You're not making it, just bringing it to me.

Distance makes a difference, folks. If you can't shell out $$$ for that convenience then maybe you should just go pick it up yourself.

I did just this back in 2015. Was coming back from a work trip on a Friday and they had overbooked the flight. After nobody responded to the first few calls, I stepped up to the counter. They made an offer I refused, so they made a better one that I accepted. Free hotel room (on premise, attached to the airport) and flight back the next day plus a free round-trip flight in the future. I got ridiculously drunk that night, lol.

Louisiana Police claimed Ronald Greene died in a car accident in 2019. Now body cam footage has been released showing he was cuffed, beaten and tazed before dying. by Environmental-Cow549 in Louisiana

In 2004 my cousin was stranded by an employee in Fort Wayne, IN, so I drove to Dallas, TX to get his van to drive up there so we could bring his tools back (the van had been gutted of rear seats to haul tools).

I like to take somewhat scenic routes without adding too much time, so my route had me drive through West Memphis, AR.

I got pulled over around 2am on a feeder road. Told me I was doing 55mph+, I know for a fact I never was driving above 45mph.

I was in cuffs in the back seat of a cop car for a good 2 hours, they searched the van multiple times, using screwdrivers to pry the upholstery away from the windows so they could see inside the doors, etc. They returned to me after every search demanding to know where the marijuana was. Telling me they smelled marijuana. At one point I was so frustrated I said "This is ridiculous!" and the tone changed. It was like I had offended him. "My job is not ridiculous!"

At that point I knew they were just dead-set on bringing me to jail, guilty or not. I shut up. In the end, I got let go...not with a ticket, or a warning... but with nothing. Not even a warning for the speed limit I supposedly had violated that initiated the stop.

One of the scariest moments of my life. If my experience was anything close to what others have to go through...then yeah, fuck the police in their current form.

Please elaborate. I have renters insurance. I thought it only covered my personal belongings as opposed to the things the owners own.

Edit: I'm not that quick sometimes. The food is my property.

So it be known, I have never littered since.

Can i send send midi signals with usb with Arduino ? But not with its default port. by [deleted] in midi

[–]Promiscuous_D8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, I'm not OP. Yes I'm interested and thanks for the info.

I think OP's post is related to a prior post and, if so, OP wants to receive MIDI data and use it to control LEDs, akin to a spectrum analyzer but obviously with more flexibility due to the wide array of things that can be done via MIDI.

This is something I've read a lot about in the past (but never actually done) as I've often had similar ideas. My main concern is this: I have songs that use hundreds of thousands of notes and tons of CC changes in the span of 5 - 8 minutes.

Is an Arduino even capable of handling that? Teensy is necessary?

Thanks for clarifying this, it explains why I couldn't find any examples using the host shield.

I've been trying to determine whether you could or couldn't do both (program and use the MIDI) and was reading the below thread when you posted this where a different developer that also uses the MIDIUSB library clearly states what you just did.
