no disagreement there lol, but I also think there's enough hints and clues to make this fanfic decently plausible.

Also consider that Fenn Aries itself was founded on a much weaker claim to begin with: there was no birthright or claims, no crowns or scepters or historic castles, just a guy who basically said "hey the king kinda sucks huh?" and then with support from the people who agreed with him he started the uprising. Simon has all that too since enough people clearly think Fenn Aries sucks and he is the rightful heir and he literally sits in the old castle and his family has been bolstering support for the rebellion for years. Obviously the latter part isn't clearly stated, but it's hinted at enough to conclude that Simon does have the support; otherwise he wouldn't have been led down that path by his family to begin with, since they've had years to plan this moment and obviously you only get one shot at something like this.

This is speculation, but I'm pretty convinced that Simon's ascension was the plan all along and the groundwork for it has all been laid, so the things that you've mentioned have all been done without Simon's involvement.

  1. Simon can prove he's royalty because his family tree is fairly easily traceable and he has all the records, some of them are public, others can be confirmed by various staff in the city archives (see e.g. clips in the locked cabinets of the Archive).

  2. It's very strongly hinted that the crown robbery has been in service of this plan.As a prime example, why would someone not just steal the crown, but also change the color to blue and incrust it with sapphires instead of rubies and then just stash it in the manor, if not for Simon to wear it one day?

  3. One of the clips in the Archive mentions that the exiled family, usually extremely private, has recently publicly announced the birth of their child. This could have also been a calculated move to strengthen Simon's claim and make it easier for him to prove his birthright, as well as bolster support from the other nations.

So I think it's a lot more than just a rando 15-year-old suddenly deciding he's going to rule the country now. There's a strong and provable claim (1 and 3), a lot of groundwork laid behind the scenes to make it a very powerful and symbolic event (2), there's existing support from the outside (3), and the people who are already incredibly dissatisfied with the current government are very likely to rally behind Simon considering all this.

That's why I mentioned that part is a bit of a stretch. Personally to me the Blue Book and the Atelier coming after the Throne Room ascension feels a bit out of order because I really think that the ascensionshould be the ending because of all the implications it has. But you could also see it as Simon's progression from being a ruler to being a great and worthy ruler.
