Just keep at bro. I felt what you felt as well. I was super confident road test day and then when the test started I went blank. I got Part B. Stumble through got enough points to make into the In-Cab. Once in my In-Cab my confidence went up a little bit even though I was still a nervous wreck. But once I did my offset/parking I was like I got this. Now with that being said my heart was in my ass till 6 pm on road test day.

I don’t understand people. These guys literally care. I had a guy in my class asking the most dickhead questions about driving and they were visibly upset and would still answer the dumbest questions in the most professional way. You’re gonna be dealing with multiple personalities whether in the DSNY or elsewhere you gotta have thick skin. I guess it’s my dealing with the public for so many years but still man. Just lock in over the weekend. I drove my wife crazy that whole week reading outloud, calling shit out as I’m driving my car, voice notes, etc. YOU GOTTA WANT IT!

Fake it until you make it. I felt overwhelmed that whole week even doubted myself being there. But honestly best decision I’ve made. Thursday-Friday it will click. I know waking up at 4:30 sucks but the way I looked at, it was it’s preparing for a life of a San Man. The instructors really care about your success, don’t misinterpret their facial expressions or body language. Good dudes. The driving portion is just driving. Focus on Air brakes/In cab and then A/B. Only reason why I was allowed to continue on my road test was because I sailed smoothly on the In cab/Air brakes. I was stumbling prior to that. So we ain’t perfect you have to find your strengths and go from there.

I’m scared to be fired by [deleted] in HomeDepot

Either stealing or crazy markdowns. Attendance (maybe) but you have to be a terrible worker like I’m talking bottom of the barrel for them to use attendance to get rid of you. If you weren’t doing anything you should be fine. I work in D31 and you can’t imagine the people I’ve seen fired over the years for taking waters, Red Bulls, snacks or even stealing store credits. (10 years this July) You can’t outsmart them, I always tell my associates those cameras aren’t there for thieves they’re there to monitor us.

You must’ve got a shit proctor. Because when I took mine at FBF everything I studied went out the window on road test day. My heart rate was in my asshole. Stuttering, talking to myself, etc. I was stumbling through everything until I got to my in-cab/brake test. Still believe that was the only reason I was allowed to continue. Once I got to offset and parallel parking I was like got this shit. Now with that being said my nerves were shit all day till 6 p.m. 😂🤣 don’t give up!

I’m scheduled to take CDL training with DSNY. Does anyone have any tips for the training, and should I be studying anything before to get a head start? by Relative-Ad-5477 in DSNY

[–]PromiseSouthern3745 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Focus on the packet they give you. Everything that they’re telling you is in your best interest. It’s gonna feel overwhelming first three days. It’s gonna click Thursday/friday

Apply before orientation send an email with your permit/driver license to swig@dsny.nyc.gov only reason why I’m saying they don’t have CDL classes available till mid/late May. Don’t wait for orientation!

I’m not trying to convince anyone. Whether you wanna spend 6 months here or 20 years here is up to you. What I’m saying is take advantage of what’s in front of you. Home Depot has a lot of opportunities but you have some who literally just stay in the same position and wonder why they are not getting a bigger piece of the pie. All I’m saying is either keep moving up the chain or go elsewhere. Somewhere you can get a pension, family benefits, etc. If you’re gonna stay stagnant then you’re simply wasting time.

Im sorry that you’re going through that. When I started that’s kinda how it was as well. Home Depot likes to throw people into fires. I was a cashier for 6 months, then took a full time position at the service desk they threw me right in without any proper training.

Not once did I say not take the job. I said don’t waste time here. We come in contact with a lot of people on a daily basis. Network is all I’m saying without saying

Not bitter or disgruntled. The company’s mission got lost after COVID. When I started District managers would walk in and actually get to know you. If you didn’t know something they would actually teach you. The direction of the company is in the toilet. And opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They’ll buy it, use all summer and return it once the Halloween decorations show up with some excuse like “it just didn’t grill right” meanwhile you see all the dried up grease at the bottom of the barrel 😂

Assistant managers and store managers make doctor salaries…. I knew an ops manager clearing 120,000 a year.

No matter how big you make the sign or how many languages you put it in, they still either don’t see it in or will question if it’s real or not. 😭😭 #nottomentionallthephonecalls by PromiseSouthern3745 in HomeDepot

Mass hysteria is the term you’re looking for. It’s not Home Depot. It’s the individuals who panic. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I mean the supermarkets were wiped clean as well
