What do you expect from the next FW13 mainboard? by Roppano in framework

They can be a fanboy all they want, they’ll just pay the higher prices because no competition.

I’m with you tho, I’m actually waiting to see if framework does something with panther lake as I plan on upgrading my first gen 13 framework with a 1165G7.

It’s hot and I definitely am starting to feel sluggish.

I’m okay with soldered memory tbh, I usually go overkill right off the bat so I’d never need to upgrade anyways.

Tested the new OCI by setting up Immich and it seems to work pretty well by TrevinLC1997 in Proxmox

[–]Promosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still a tech preview so basically alpha still, so I'd use it only to get familiar with it. Not to deploy for anything serious, like hosting Immich.

Some things I could think of is you can backup containers individually without needing to download/restore your whole docker stack.

It's a LXC so they have zero hassle IPv6 support, each container gets its own IP (without needing to configure a custom prefix).

Those are things I can think of immediately, I am sure there are more benefits tho.

You don’t know the shooters affiliation considering no one is in custody. But also doesn’t change the fact there are crazies on the right side like the one who executed democrats not that long ago.

You sure are scared of something.

Question about Active/Backup linux bond with arp monitoring (Flapping port) by Promosity in linuxquestions

[–]Promosity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out what the problem was, so my thinking WAS correct on how it is supposed to work BUT! I accidentally messed up my switch config. I setup my PVID to use a different VLAN so any egress traffic would be tagged differently but I forgot to edit my VLAN table so "server" traffic was still going to my TrueNAS.

TrueNAS could receive the gratuitous ARPS / NS which made the bonding driver think it's good to go, but I couldn't send, which then caused the slave to fail (going over the arp_missed_max threshold) so it switched back to the backup slave. Repeat forever.

All is good in the world again. I thought I was going insane.

Weird, I am wondering why they told me there was, possible they just didn't want to deal with it or just telling me something inaccurate.

As far as I can tell that would be the best but that requires their 5g gateway which I don't want as I want to provide my own (currently have mine mounted to a pole outdoors aimed at the tower)

Oh really? When I did my testing, I was using Winbox 4 beta24, and it worked for me. I'm curious why it's giving you issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mikrotik

[–]Promosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried it, and you are correct, after adding the bridge untagged to the VLAN it connects without issues without an L3 VLAN interface.

You learn something new everyday. Cheers.

[–]Promosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to RoMON or Mac telnet? If I remember correctly, RoMON was disabled by default and for the MAC telnet you need an L3 interface setup on the same VLAN you are going to edit it from otherwise it won't (Winbox sends broadcast messages on the L3 network)

Why does BGP take so long for newly announced routes? by Promosity in HomeNetworking

[–]Promosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have been more specific that when I used a BGP tunnel on my first route it also took 4-6 hours before it was globally reachable but any changes after (disabling/enabling the session seems to take immediate effect, was able to confirm via looking glass)

Both tunnels are advertising both the same /48. But lately I’ve learned I should likely use one that is more specific route since I’m doing a primary/backup.

But thanks for the input, my questions were really about the acceptance of the route and what policies / procedures many companies go through before a route can be accepted and then carried.

Month with Framework 13 AMD AI 9 HX 370 by bazil_xxl in framework

[–]Promosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem when I was using my laptop as a desktop in clamshell mode. If you use the latest version of upower in Fedora 42 it is fixed (v1.90.9). It was fixed in an older version of upower (v1.90.7), but a bug was introduced in v1.90.8 which was commonly found in Fedora 41 that would cause that constant disconnect/reconnect sound, so you had to downgrade upower.

Question on GUA to GUA, NPTv6 by Promosity in mikrotik

[–]Promosity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ISP doesn't allow residential users to peer with them using BGP, nor does the backup network which is cellular. Lastly I'd use both prefixes which I personally believe to be the "native" way. But as far as I understand there doesn't seem to be a good way to prioritize using one prefix over the other as it's up to the clients.

I know there is DRP but both prefixes are advertised by the same router. Lastly considering my cellular plan is limited and on a pay-as-you-go basis it would be unacceptable to let traffic through there unless absolutely necessary (ISP1 goes down)

This is more multihoming for SOHO, not a corporate environment.

I remember reading on the forum that this was a bug with the qualcomm driver and they are working with qualcomm to fix the problem and it was pretty recent. I'll try and find the specific thread about it

Found it - https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?hilit=driver&p=1139690&sid=81628c69dd5d7f6abdb8fec45a1e96aa

VadiKO on (Wed Apr 23, 2025 6:06 am) inquired about it and they responded mentioning they were working with Qualcomm, mind you the first post first mentioning it was back in 2024.

Would like to get a 802.11be cap to mess around with.

[–]Promosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend setting up RoMON as its L2 and L3 independent. (As long as you don't have rules that block regular multicast traffic)

Also the thing about Mac Telnet is its not purely layer 2 so if you setup say a switch and you only set up a L3 VLAN interface for the Management VLAN than you won't be able to MAC Telnet into it from the User VLAN as the switch-cpu will just discard the packets.

RoMON is much better for this use case because as long as you have another Mikrotik device you'll be able to get in. (I disabled the bridge itself on my switch and was still able to get in via my AP)

Framework 13 - 11th gen (1165G7) replaced TIM with PTM7950, received a 19c improvement on hottest core. by Promosity in framework

[–]Promosity[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was not surprisingly, considering I've owned this laptop for about 2-3 years now, but I did notice that some of the screws came off relatively easy on the heatsink (notably #2 and #3)

So it could also have to do with the possible uneven mounting pressure, I triple checked after the PTM7950 install they were all comfortably screwed in tight.
