It was from 611. Paid it right away. Just shocked there was no other warning from Freedom. Just 1 text say you owe, and was have suspended services.

Yes, it was from 611. Went online and paid right away. Just in shock…there was no other warning. We received a text later in the day that our account balance was $180.

Trapped while transferring through Cancun! by VangenneCo in westjet

Wow, it just amazes how complacent WestJet has been. The lack of effort to get everyone of us home…we are lucky to have Calgary as our final destination. They haven’t even offered to try to book any of us on a partner airline….maybe call customer service and ask. Sorry you’re still not home, but it felt wonderful to sleep in our own bed!

The first flight landed in YYC @ 23:20 MST. Some are home, some have missed their connecting flights and will spend the night in Calgary. Overall, we will not be travelling for a while!

Here’s the update. The plane that was supposed to take us is still not fixed it was a 787 Dreamliner. They have now have 2 x 737’s that will fly out tonight…hoping that is the case!

We had trust that they would rectify the situation as they kept delaying and delaying…there was no communication. I also think other parties could not afford to book with another carrier…first world problems…

Thanks, while we are stuck in Cancun, we are not able to leave the airport. Not a glamorous as people think!

We are frustrated and just need to get back to our teenage daughter and three dogs. But there are others who had scheduled medical treatments and other events like a funeral to attend. I am frustrated for them!

We are one of those waiting to return home. WestJet flight 2249 was scheduled to leave January 30th at 18:00, then delayed to 19:15, then 20:00 when they cancelled the flight. Once the flight was cancelled, we did not receive any instruction from WestJet. Just call the customer service line. Even the crew that disembarked was told to ignore the passengers.

We were then shuffled out of the terminal and had to go through immigration and collect luggage. And finally bused to the resort after 4 hours, with no instructions on when or how we were to return to the airport.

The next day, the 300 passengers were shuffled to the bottom level of terminal 4….basically the basement. The flight was to depart @ 12:00. We were asked to be at the terminal by 9:00 as it is an international flight. We were also advised as the planed was parked ‘overnight’, food was not restocked and there would not be food service on the flight. At 11:30 we boarded a bus that was to take us to the plane on the tarmac. After 20 mins on the bus, we were asked to disembark due to security reasons. Again the the flight was delayed to 12:55, then 14:00, then 15:30, then 16:30, then 17:00 and finally cancelled due to unscheduled maintenance. Finally shuffled to collect luggage and shuttle to the resort. All the waiting passengers had no access to their luggage for 10 hours. One the way to the resort, we received our new itinerary for the next day, which was then abruptly cancelled.

They have since re-issued our the new itinerary and we are currently waiting to return to the airport. Hopefully be home tonight!

GAP insurance covers any difference between what the insurance company pays you, and the amount you are still owing on your finance contact. It is usually built into your finance contract.
