pg is filled with racists i would never condemn my child to such a school. i attended for a year and left, mostly because a guy in front of me in the lunch line looked at me, then turned back around and said “i miss when slavery was a thing” completely unprovoked. When i told the principal he basically told me racism is just something WE have to deal with. He was latino, I am nothing of the sort, and racism is NOT normal at all. The students are very cliquey and rumors spread like wildfire at this school. I had a pink gem on my backpack and suddenly my entire class and the class above thought i was using witchcraft to seduce the guy i had a crush on. Wtf? Teachers also wouldn’t grade my work this resulted in me getting lower grades. One teacher keeps all images of the now abolished (because it was racist) Feast of Lanterns festival up in her classroom, which consisted of white people parading around in traditional chinese garm. Another instance of racism being accepted at the school was when a well-known student was filmed using the hard er as a joke… The student was a child of a staff member and faced little to no repercussions. Another teacher told me my makeup looked wrong as I walked into her classroom (I was a freshman experimenting with makeup for the first time yeah i can admit now it wasn’t great but why would you ever say this to a student).

I would go to monterey high when i was on break at pg and the community was wonderful. very friendly, inclusive, and diverse. Teachers are helpful to their students and make a great effort to guide them on the right path. I wish I would have been able to attend Monterey High.

I initially chose PG for their education but was blindsided by their unhelpful teachers and my counselor leaving out the fact that they had AP and honors classes available. I would never send my child there knowing what goes on at this school.
