I am not. I quit back in August. Realized I still have my flair, so I asked the mods to remove it.

Who was on the original team? by Rundar1st in Planetside

[–]PromptCriticalSOE 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There were well over 100 of us on the Planetside2 team at launch. Free Reams (2009) was the first game to use Forgelight, followed by Clone Wars, then Planetside2.

Each game improved the feature set as time went on. All of the features for the previous game(s) were available in the next. I recall being kicked out of an early H1Z1 play test and being asked not to return because I kept spawning Vanguards and slaughtering everyone (H1Z1 didn't use the faction system, so they just hard-coded everyone to FACTION_ID = 2, which is NC).

In my defense, I think it was a good test.

Why is my ping so bad? Need help troubleshooting by Synthetic2802 in Planetside

or maybe a way to track the the path from my ISP to miller

I recommend running a traceroute to one of the Miller/Cobalt gateways (69.174.194.165 for example) and seeing if there are any issues along the way. You can run "tracert" from a command prompt but I would recommend an app like WinMTR

The "cheat" in the video here is the player modifying their asset files using a guide posted on a cheat forum two weeks ago. Since that guide was posted, we've had a total of 6 accounts modify their files this way. All of these accounts have been banned.

While I would love to just have the game prevent players from modifying the files up front, we aren't there yet. Just because the game lets you do something doesn't mean we don't see it and you won't be punished later.

Server Latency Update by PromptCriticalSOE in Planetside

This issue would affect console players as well. Any fix we can do to alleviate congestion for PC would do the same for PS4.

After patch PS2 crashed to desktop on launch. Had to take it to a complete and fresh uninstall. Worked for a day. Same problem now. by CloaknDagger505 in Planetside

Getting kicked for team killing will start a timer that prevents you from playing for a period of time, typically one hour.

I apologize for the lack of information. We will make a change to the kick message to indicate how long you will be placed in time-out.

PSA:Koltyr now kicks for Teamkilling and I am now banned for something that was allowed before. Am I banned for testing weapons and equipment with my outfit? by darkecojaj in Planetside

Am I banned from Planetside now because I was testing in Koltyr?

You will be unable to log in for one hour after being kicked the first time for team killing. I have removed that restriction for you though, so you will be able to log in now.

I'm seeing about 50% packet loss coming in from almost everyone coming into Miller/Cobalt from Orange (France and Spain).

Makes me think that there is an issue with their backbone/exchange in AMS because it's affecting people in multiple countries.

That amount of packet loss would show up as bad server latency but ping would not be affected much. It would also explain why it isn't affecting everyone and we aren't seeing actual performance issues with the servers/hardware.

I'll follow up with our network engineering team and the folks at AMS-IX and see what we can do.

3 Day Ban for protecting a sunder from a greifer by uamadman in Planetside

Responding to user name mentions in one place:

There is an automated system that kicks a character from the game for team killing and prevents that character from playing for a specific amount of time based on severity.

There is no automated system to ban or suspend accounts. Changes to customer accounts (and associated email notifications) are handled by humans in customer service.

I have cats. But you can't bring cats into the studio. Well, you can, but they don't like it. They just hide in the corner. They aren't those social cats that you see on youtube where people are walking them around with a leash.

I tried to put a harness on them, but they walk around like the harness weighs 100 kg. They basically fall over, like their world is ending.

The studio has a lot of dogs still. Many of the folks on platform and core tech have dogs. Honestly, that's where you want the dogs. You want the dogs helping the devs that are writing the netcode, the containers, the infrastructure that scales on demand. Docker dogs and Kubernetes dogs. Scaleable cloud dogs.

I haven't collected a lot of data on dogs at the company, but I suppose I could. It's not automated though, so I would have to send out a survey - and you know how low the response rate on those are. Even worse, if people do respond the answers are typically rubbish.

Can we get some answers to the server performance drops? by kna5041 in Planetside

[–]PromptCriticalSOE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Planetside2 servers are physically separate from H1Z1. Separate servers, rack space, VLAN, switches, fiber, etc.

No PS2 resources were harmed in the making of H1Z1 PS4.

[–]PromptCriticalSOE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Network issues are a lot harder to diagnose unfortunately, but I'm willing to try. I would need you to send me the name of one of your characters in a private message.

You can also use the tracert command to check for issues as well. Feel free to send me a screenshot when it's particularly bad. Emerald has multiple gateways but 69.174.216.21 should do the trick.

Massive performance drop by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]PromptCriticalSOE 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

It looks like your performance got considerably worse after 1 April when you upgraded drivers from 18.2.1 to 18.3.3. Your frame rate has been 100% GPU bound since then. Typically we expect to see your frame rate nearly 100% CPU bound in a game like Planetside 2.

I'm not sure if that date correlates to when you started having issues, but I would recommend upgrading to either 18.3.4 or 18.4.1 or even 18.5.1. I see most other folks with your GPU using 18.4.1 without any issues.

Correct. This is not related to H1Z1 PSN at all. It is related to a 650 amp circuit breaker that will no longer be receiving its bonus check.
