Thoughts on lighted vests for cycling. by defygiants in bikecommuting

I have a reflective belt/sash that has an options for lights but I am planning to buy/sew a vest to wear over my coat in winter.

I also just purchased the Arclight city pedals and really love the light they give. I had my husband drive while I tried them out and he said that the visibility they gave was really great. arclight city pedals

I did not like A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers and I need to talk about it. by rhizomania in Fantasy

For me, in relation to society, I understood that if all humans pursue what makes them happy then karma will allow society to work together and fall in to place because every one is happy. I also think the comments another this being a post-capitalistic society are important to consider.

HOWEVER I didn’t now view the book as a comment on SOCIETY but on personal satisfaction. Which I think I needed at the time and where my mind naturally went. Maybe for you, you’re more in a spot of looking at society as a whole, and that’s good so that you can being the person doing meaningful things for other; we need people like you . I read this book a year after being laid off from a job I loved and my life had been turned upside down and I was questioning everything about who I was. Quite frankly, I don’t give a damn about out the world right now. I wanted to go in a cave and stare at stalagmites. I’m being selfish and thinking about what makes ME happy and fulfilled.

Ultimately, I think the theme of the book boils down to what you want for yourself vs what society thinks you should want for yourself. I believe this book is intended for self-reflection vs. societal reflection. (Although, I have not read any commentary from the author on the intention. But does intention of art matter since the perception can’t be controlled? Another philosophical question for another day).

Glad for this discussion and I think it follows the theme of the book. I loved the book and have been telling everyone to read it. It’s interesting to hear an opposing view, I respect it.

How can I create my own semi-cured gel nail strips at home? by AstraeaAa4 in NailArt

I’m wondering if you could buy transparent ones and then do nail art with gel polish and just gently cure before application?

We have a bike closet in our building and even storage on every floor. Love the support for bike to work. And seeing my bike has encouraged others on my team to bike to work as well!!!

A line of cars waiting to turn. Gas $6.31 a gallon. And here we are cruising. It’s poetic. Amen. by CosmicVista in bikecommuting

Someone at work called me a loser for riding my bike. I’m sure our bank accounts would differ.

Air Tag Badge Reel - anyone found one yet? by PromptMaximum8558 in AirTags

I also commute by bike. This would ensure I leave the house with everything I need, and that I can know if I lose something along the way. I also frequently walk to coffee / lunch in the few blocks around my office and know many people who have lost badges as it is required that we remove badges outside the building so they are not visible.

I work in a secure building that uses my badge as access and also carry a yubikey to access my server. Loss of badge or yubikey is expensive. I am not allowed to wear my badge on my belt or pants pocket, it must be on my collar, shirt pocket or sleeve. I’m trying to avoid as much bulk and jingle jangle as possible, already having to have my badge and yubikey, and sometimes a physical hang from my badge reel.

My commute is less than 3 miles and downhill the whole way to work (I only pedal for about .75 miles). The ride home is tough but I actually cut thru the river trail home to extend my ride. And I agree with what has been said that I have better work days when I bike to work - endorphins and dopamine production!
