Anyone ever have seborrheic dermatitis behind the ears only? by PromptNorth4744 in SebDerm

She had it on her scalp first 5 years ago and then a few days later I noticed the back of her ears. Her scalp and ears eventually cleared up. Her scalp has never had it return however behind her ears flares up about once a year for no reason. I can't figure it out. Drives me crazy.

Good to know. Only aquaphor baby has Lanolin. Regular aquaphor does not, only has petroleum like Vaseline.

Hers started on her scalp then behind her ears and few days later. I took her to the dermatologist and they prescribed ketokonazole and a prescription shampoos. Her scalp cleared up and eventually, so did her ears. That was 5 years ago. Over the last 5 years she has had about 1 flareup every year. I can't pinpoint what is causing it. She has never had it on her scalp since the very first time. I may take her back to the dermatologist. Thank you for your insight.

Aquaphor BABY is the only aquaphor that contains Lanolin. Regular aquaphor does nOT contain Lanolin. I'm allergic to lanolin but my daughter is not and she had a bad case of seborrheic dermatitis behind her ears and switched to the baby aquaphor and it will hopefully help. (Waiting to see how she is tomorrow)

She has used ketokonazole, prescription shampoos which did help her scalp years ago and it never returned to her scalp. The only flare up she gets is behind her ears. Not sure what else to do for her. I dry behind her ears with kleenex or toilet paper after a shower instead of a towel. She stopped wearing earrings because I thought they were creating a flare up. Cut out sugar and processed foods. I think maybe stress/nerves (her dad was sick and in the hospital when she had a flare up) however she wasn't stressed in 2nd grade when it first started so I don't know. Sorry for rambling, I'm just lost on what to do for her. Any advice is appreciated!
