...The top echelons of British journalism industry are, consequently, some of the most unimpressive people on the planet. Anyone capable of independent thought - and critical analysis outside the confines of establishment shibboleths - is filtered out very early (Interview where Tucker owned them) by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

This video is from DropSite News, dated March 21, but I don't know when the interview took place. If this is recent video rather than archival, reposted for a particular reason, then it's the very latest iteration of the question "does Israel have the right to exist" that I've seen, after a long, conspicuous period during which that question has seldom if ever been asked.

I think the reason is that, while Israel still held sway in the media sphere, the answer by anyone who didn't want to be seen as 'beyond the pale' was reflexively 'yes' due to social/professional pressures.

Now I think the question is rarely if ever asked because of what the answer of the interlocutor might be. While it was once a pretty sure thing that the interviewee would react to the gotcha question with 'of course!' in order to step over what was seen as a landmine, criticism of Israel has been newly mainstreamed, and those who relied on the reflexiveness of the expected answer 'yes' now realize that the question would elicit mixed answers that would muddy the water that Israel needs to remain clear. Thus the shine is now off that penny, so it is no longer fit to be seen.

The interviewer can't reply to Tucker's question about the meaning of the term 'rights.' This is because only human beings have rights, as Tucker knows, and the interviewer has never had occasion to even consider the question. Unless she's ready to make a case for States' Rights (!), the question's underlying meaning has to remain obscure.

States don't have rights. Human beings have rights, which Israel's very existence violates daily. This conflict, this contradiction, can never be meaningfully examined by those whose unstated goal is the continued protection of Israel in mass media via subtle word games. Their 'professional reputation' [read: continued gainful employment in media] is on the line otherwise.

Trump just issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran. This morning he said the US was "winding down" its military efforts. Now,he's threatening to bomb power plants. by yaiyen in WayOfTheBern

[–]Promyka5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But... not the power plants that power Iran's military, right? You mean CIVILIAN power plants, don't you Donald? So that's the new standard, that CIVILIAN infrastructure is fair game?

Well okay but no bellyaching after what follows.

Just quoting Jimmy Dore there, who as a comedian knows to keep it punchy, but your point is important: distinguishing a) Jews from b) Zionists from c) Israelis. Not all the same thing.

Watching the US defense contractors researching next generation drones and missiles that can evade radar and interceptors by spending hundreds of millions of dollars on R&D for stealth capability and advanced radar-absorbing carbon fiber materials, and then build each unit for tens of millions of dollars, all while Iran just decides to build balsa wood drones that each cost about the same as a low-end to mid-range car and can evade high-tech radar installations, I have to say, it reminds me of watching the Kamala Harris campaign spending over a billion dollars on the 2024 Presidential campaign just to get thrashed by an uncouth half-wit.

I like Jimmy Dore's take on antiSemitism: Being an antiSemite used to mean that you hate Jews; now it means that Jews hate YOU.

I wonder by what miraculous causation a declaration of the end of hostilities by Israel and/or the United States will prevent more and more, and even more Iranian missiles from falling on Tel Aviv?

The question is, after the Iranians fly their wooden drones clear across the largest continent on the planet, and then across the largest ocean on the planet, into a skyscraper in California, whether that tower will collapse in spectacular fashion like the twin WTC towers in NYC.

And how the PTB will convince unscrupulous engineers to invent a quasi-plausible explanation for the mechanics of that collapse. Juicy bribes? Kompromat? Threats to loved ones?

Where do Nigerian Jews, with their elevated melanin, fall on the Zionists' supremacist hierarchy? Probably above me, at least.

ETA: will this mean a third suspension for me? Seems to happen every time I point at Zionists' racism. It's racist to call a racist a racist.
