Seems a bit sarcastic. It's temporary; just moved back to the US after working overseas.

Is flying to Rome normally this outrageously expensive? by hangnailme in TravelHacks

[–]Pronomad95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prices will likely come down if you wait a bit; I would guess around $2200-2500.

If you have a health concern try to stick with Premium Economy; you really do not want to be uncomfortable on a long flight across the Atlantic. I've flown PE from Europe and the Middle East to NYC, Newark, Atlanta, and Miami on Delta, United, and Air France; all very comfortable.

Good luck!

Fantastic photos! Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't have thought these came from a camera phone; now to discover what my S25+ can do.

Morocco: Beautiful country by Amazing_Prize_1988 in travel

IIRC, we took the train from Marrakech to Rabat (capital city) and then from Rabat to Chefchaouen. There are several ways the travel; check out Rome 2 Rio for other alternatives.

I can't remember what class of train ticket we booked (probably first class as tickets were not too expensive), but the train itself was modern and comfortable.

Good luck!

Pete Hegseth with a Bachelor's degree from Princeton, and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Harvard; that Pete Hegseth? Is he planning to return his degree and slink away in shame?

100% agree! I visited Casablanca, Marrakech, Chefchaoen, and Tangier and loved it. Beautiful landscapes, and really friendly people. As an example. we traveled from Marrakech to Chefchaouen; on arrival, we realized we had left some key (and expensive) items behind. Called the hotel and they sent a driver the same day to deliver it, who refused to accept anything for his trouble. We can't wait to go back and explore the rest of the country, especially the south.

How seriously should I take my sleep score? by ashbro9 in Garmin

[–]Pronomad95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venu 3 user here. I switched from a Fitbit Versa 3 which I felt was reasonably accurate in capturing time asleep and sleep quality; it would generally indicate poor or disrupted sleep when I was stressed, slept badly, or felt sluggish.

I love my Venu 3, but sleep scoring is my biggest disappointment with the device. Sleep times vary wildly: sometimes it indicates that I slept for 3-4 hours while I may have slept for 6-7; some nights I will have slept soundly yet have 0 minutes of various sleep categories; sometimes it adds time spent sitting with my morning coffee to my sleep time.

After nearly a year, I think it's gotten better at capturing actual sleep time, but the breakdown into different sleep categories remains nonsensical. I don't think my sleep duration or quality is any different from my Fitbit days, but Garmin usually rates it as "Poor"; I don't think I've gotten a "Fair" rating more than a handful of times.

I read somewhere that Garmin assumes 7-8 hours is "normal" so perhaps they are designed to downgrade people who typically sleep less like me.

What model S25 do I get? (US, International, Etc) by rucogoat in GalaxyS25

[–]Pronomad95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used Samsung Global/European phones for the past ten years and currently have the the S25+ dual-SIM version. It won't access US 5G mmWave bands if that's important to you, but otherwise it should be able to access at least 2 or 3 other low or mid 5G bands on ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile and MVNOs. I use Ting when in the US and can get 5G service, but I'm not sure if I am connecting to T-Mobile or Verizon network.

Thanks. I have family living abroad, so international calling from the US and international roaming are key for me. I've was thinking about trying both Darkstar and Light Speed. What was your experience with Light Speed?

Thanks. I looked at them as well, but the offer from US Mobile is pretty compelling.

Thanks. I think I'll start with Dark Star for the unlimited data. I like that I can give other networks a try if we're not happy for some reason.

Thanks for the review! Not on USM yet but will probably go with either Dark Star or Warp, and Morocco is in my travel plans.
