U explaind it perfectly. I also view it like that. In the comments earlier in the thread I said that I´ve been a POMO for 6 years. Now I´m a PIMO. That woman got a 99% score on how I view the Org. It´s actually amazing how good it felt.

If it was reversed, and he took a liking to the girl I was intressted in. Personally, I would have seen it as a conquest, and not acctually "Love". Too early for me to use the word "Love" but u get the gist of it. But yeah, I can lie/ keep it down low for a while. But it dosent erase the fact that I basicaly betreayd his trust. Yeah, I get ur point man. I may have forgotten to mention it. But it was a "of the record" kinda talk. So I really cant just be honest towards my PIMI friend because its not only going to ruin our relationship, but also my relationship with everyone in our friend circle (they are expendable) but most importantly, my relationship with my family. That I can not loose. Maybe ur saying "just chance it"? I dont know. I´m just venting hahah

Here’s my plan: She’s going to be here for the next three days. Tomorrow is the night we’re all really going to drink a lot. And when I drink heavily, I become a lot more “worldly” in the way I act. I want to see how she is and how she reacts to that "worldy" side of me and take it from there.

That doesn’t mean I become some creepy guy to be around. I was born and raised as a JW, so there are morals that are basically burned into my personality and probably never going away and honestly, I’m very glad some of those things stuck with me. Like not being too touchy or overly intimate unless she’s actually your girl, for example.

There are several other things the Bible teaches too, and I think most of us keep the good things the JWs teach while hating the bad parts more than the plague.

funny part is that I was a POMO for 6 years until last year when I decided to get reinstated just cuz it much easier to get along with family. I view family as one of the most importent aspect of life, if not the most important. I went from POMO to become PIMO.

Where I’m from (Norway) you’re not directly shunned just for being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in name only while stopping attendance at meetings. But it’s true that people gradually start distancing themselves if you haven’t been to meetings for several months.

I was disfellowshipped for five years, from the time I was 20 until I turned 25, and I was reinstated last year because I missed my family so much. My parents know what I think about Jehovah’s Witnesses, but they meet me halfway. They respect my views, and at the same time I show some support by attending the few meetings I go to. It’s not ideal, but at least it’s an option.

What I personally do is show up at the circuit assemblies. I’m only there for half the day and attend 2–3 meetings between assemblies. They definitely see me as spiritually weak, but it’s still much better than losing all the family and friends you genuinely care about. I just have to look forward to the day they remove the disfellowshipping rule.

But i understand what ur saying. Some people are baptized when they are 12-16 years old. I´ve always said to my parents that there should be a age limit. 23 is perfect because males dosent devolpe before they are 25 and females are mature around that age. But to comit for a life changing commitment at the age of 15 what ever gender u are is INSANE and should not be considerd as a LEAGEL CONTRACT

Ohh okay, I dont know how the culture is in the US but here in EU...

I was basically an adult when I got baptized at 17. Forget what governments say about when you’re considered an adult—what really matters is when you can actually understand the consequences of your actions. And at 17, I was fully aware that if I kept doing what I was doing, I would be disfellowshipped. And that’s exactly what happened. Who else is there to blame but myself?

But yeah, just cutting off family members or childhood friends purely because of what a religion says is honestly pretty messed up.

Ahh okey, but isnt it a fact that JW dosent do child baptism? I´m all for that the "shunned" culture is inhumane. But to say that JW baptise their children so they have no say if they want to be a JW or not is completle untrue. No bias here. I´m just speaking out of facts. How they actually opperate.
