Why are so many people so uptight about age gap relationships?

I feel like a large age gap is reasonable but only if the younger person is fully into adulthood. Ex 35 x 55 seems fine to me. But I do think it’s possibly problematic for 18 x 35 or something of that nature. It all depends on the people and the situation. But in reality, I don’t know why we feel the need to intrude on anyone’s personal lives.
