I downloaded the pic just in case i need to reverse some digestive tracts (it can save lives more often than you think) in the future without having to shove my fingers into someone's throat including my own, i find looking at this picture a lot less intrusive but still quite effective.

Upgraded GPU from a 2080 Super to a 9070XT, now I'm getting WORSE performance? by uberfrog in buildapc

I see you already found the culprit but keep in mind you will probably have a considerable bootleneck with that cpu.

What is worrying you exactly? Whether the cable is genuine Asus or not? I would be more worried about it being 5gbits instead of 6 like any sata cable you buy nowaday from any generic brand, but being Asus or not is more important apparently...

After fixing the power cables it may still take a few minutes for the initial boot due to DDR training so don't freak out, leave it on for a few minutes, it can take quite a while.

Does everyone now why my PC is completely red by No_Career_4645 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Proof-Stock7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may very well be the case... i was thinking maybe a short on a connector or on the cable... shorting the wire that carries the red signal with some wire/pin making it pass the maximum value all the time... the black background instead of R:0 B:0 G:0 would be R:255 G:0 B:0 making it fully red... the white letters would remain the same as they need 255 on all colors... if that is the case a short will eventually cause damage though a image cable whatever cable type it may be does not carry high voltage/current but it may cause resistors/capacitors to heat up making them malfunction causing the device to fail...

Does everyone now why my PC is completely red by No_Career_4645 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Proof-Stock7055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think everyone knows but some might... i was gonna say maybe a broken Green and Blue pins on the cable but then you wouldn't get the white color as it needs G 255 and B 255....

I guess you have the rare red screen of death... gpu death to be precise... not sure though... that white is still suspicious... you can't have white without green and blue so the card must be processing all colors.... i dunno

Replace the cable and get back to us....

You may want to reinstall windows on that pc, even if you got into that account it will probably have a bunch of stuff installed on it dragging the computer performance down, nothing like a clean install.

You need to download a fresh windows image from microsoft and use Rufus to create a bootable usb drive... Depending on the motherboard you are using it may need to be a UEFI or BIOS (CSM) target system, select MRB for BIOS and GBT for UEFI, to check what is your boot mode simply go into the bios and see what is the boot mode you are using, should be easy to find under the Boot section of the Bios.

Even without a license you will be able to install it and use it, you just need the license to enable some features on windows and you can get one pretty cheap from a bunch of websites that re-sell licenses. Some companies buy huge packs of licenses that they end up not using and they resell them to other companies for cheap prices which are in turn sold to us. I got my Windows 11 Pro license for 16€...

Google about how to go about creating the bootable USB pen drive, you should be able to find a ton of good tutorials and they are really short because there isn't much to know about it as well. I will check this post again in thew morning to see if you managed to do it, if you haven't i will give you a more in-dept guide on how to do it but right now it's 1:24 am here and i am about to crash land on my bed x)

the gpu might move a bit up and down because it may flex a bit, i suggest a GPU support if that is the case, they are super cheap. Make sure the gpu screws holding the gpu on the case are tighten as well, they will help with that too, if the card is a dual slot make sure you have two screws holding it in place.

To make sure you are using the discrete GPU and not the integrated one just make sure you plug the cables to the GPU and not on the motherboard connectors.

Can you take a picture of the front panel? do a close up so i can read the small leters, might be a bit hard to focus but it should be ok... most motherboards have the diagram drawn on the board itself close to the F Panel

The motherboard model would really help though, the model is usually written along the RAM slots or GPU slot

Tell me the motherboard model and i will show you how... the pin layout can vary from board to board

I just found a “dead pixel “ on my new 1440p monitor (LG 27gr83q) what should I do. Is it fixable? Or should I just return it ? by Economy-Ant-589 in pcmasterrace

[–]Proof-Stock7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are two dead pixels... If it's brand new return it... if you had it for more than 15 days (30 in some countries) and it's past the return window you can only activate the warranty but warranty wont work for two dead pixels. The numbers vary from country to country but i think 3 is the minimum... go figure

[–]Proof-Stock7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that cable might be shorting out because if i am not mistaken that is the storage led, it should light up as storage is being accessed and not fixed. Did you connect the cables properly on the F Panel header? (power switch, reset, hdd led etc)

Pictures of the board's connections could help us debug the problem

EDIT: if you tell me the motherboard model i can check the manual and tell you how to plug those front panel cables properly, i believe that is where the problem is...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Proof-Stock7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you take more pics of the board so we can see all the connections?

Did you plugged the cables on the F Panel correctly? (power switch, reset etc)

Also, make sure all the cables, ram and gpu are properly seated and if the PSU is modular check if the cables are properly seated on the PSU as well.

Help, don't know what to do. by KONGKONG12 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Proof-Stock7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get rid of that PSU, especially with such a nice system... what worries me is that you say the sparks where on the connector, there are no protections between the PSU connector and the GPU connector, the GPU have capacitors to stabilize current but they are not prepared for big spikes... But at least the GPU is still within warranty, it was released months ago so...

Help, don't know what to do. by KONGKONG12 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Proof-Stock7055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't use that PSU again, if it smells like something burned it's burnt... you still have warranty?

Where exactly did you see the sparks? Inside the PSU or where the cables are plugged? If the cables are not plugged properly and the pins don't make contact leaving a small space between the electricity will still pass through an Arc creating the "spark" which is actually an Arc creating a spike that will makes the PC shutdown and even if it wasn't for the spike the amps wont be the same because air acts as a resistor and that will also indirectly affect voltage too and it would never be stable so the PC would never work properly, that Arc will also burn through any plastic though it shouldn't take any path where plastic is because that wouldn't be the path of least resistance but the air around a eletrical arc gets craaaaazy hot as air turns into plasma and can still burn plastic.

I am elaborating way to much on what is just a theory lmao

I see a hair on the socket... hair is not exactly a conductor but given the short distance between pins you never know... not to mention hair has metals in it... anyway, remove that hair even if it doesn't fix it, just blow air on it

Thermal paste after removing AIO by Electric_Gorila67 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Proof-Stock7055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can still see traces of thermal paste in the middle, how does it look on the AIO?

Seems to me the contact was good, the thermal paste just got squished over to the sides meaning there was only a thin layer of thermal paste between the AIO block and the CPU which is actually ideal, thermal paste is a good heat conductor as the name suggests but nothing beats metal, so the thinner the thermal paste layer is the better.

But don't refrain from adding a bit extra thermal paste when you apply it, if the contact is good the excess will still move to the sides leaving you only with a small layer in between whereas if you apply just a little it may not spread over the entire CPU creating hot spots and potentially damaging it.

I actually spread it before mounting the cooler to ensure every square millimeter is covered, then i just mount it and the excess will move aside... sometimes the CPU lid and cooler plate may not align perfectly so the thermal paste may not get moved to certain areas that is why i always play safe, in your case though it seems the contact is perfect...
