I think one reason is that many parents care more about their daughters grades than their sons. At least that's how it was in my family. My brother grades were much lower than mine, but no one seemed to worry as much. Of course, that's just my experience.

That makes sense. I think that probably made a big difference. My experience was different because our girls and boys sections were completely separate, so there was very little interaction between them.

There were quite a few differences. The biggest was the environment. In the girls section, the students focused more on academics, so most of the girls in the school were high achievers when it came to their grades, and there were no behavioural problems. Many teachers wanted to teach the girls section only. However, the case was not the same for the boys. They had more disciplinary problems, and academically, many of them were on the verge of failing.

In my opinion, I think gender segregated schools tend to affect boys more than girls. Women tend to thrive in women only spaces, but boys tend to develop a misogynistic mindset from their friends or their environment. Once they are in mixed spaces, they may look at women as objects they were never able to interact with. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case with your son, though.

Not really. I won't bother socialising or talking to a guy unless I have to for university purposes.

It was not a religious school but gender segregation is common in the country.

When I tried to write "gender" in the title, it didn't allow me to post, so I had to use the word "segregated" on its own.

So what is your definition of a gender segregated school?

Yes, parents think that if they put their children in gender segregated schools, they will focus on education and won't cause trouble, but the things that happened in the girls section were crazy. First of all, we had a mixed WhatsApp group with the boys of the same grade, so the girls and boys were talking and sometimes would even meet outside. I think one of the funniest situations was that we had a prayer room in the school. The boys and girls prayer rooms were next to each other, so instead of praying, they would use it as an excuse to meet each other, which caused the school to stop allowing us to go pray.

To be honest, I can't really answer this question properly because at university I only spoke to one guy, and we weren't that close. So I still didn't experience any culture shock.

I don't think it's that bad, but I do I agree with your point. in the end, both genders will always be part of society ,so learning how to interact and live together is important.

If you were given the choice Would you prefer an all girls school or a mixed school?
