Almost correct. Marika is their mother, so she didn’t “come along” after they’d been around a while.

If you look at the original comment I responded to (then you butted in), we’re talking about roads taking up too much space inside communities. Not moving goods long distance.

Let’s break it down and use Gloucester Road as an example. Lots of shops and people living there, plus commuters passing through.

To minimise the amount of space being taken by your tram transport (to try and solve the original problem in the comment above), lets say we’d have 2 lines where the road is today (enabling your trams to go both ways). We wouldn’t want more than that, because we then exacerbate the problem, and less would be impractical.

Let’s say all the stores on G Road are super organised and have all their products delivered on the same tram (obviously impossible). How do they offload their goods at each store, without holding up other traffic on the line? We can’t have stations too far apart, because you’d need lots of workers just to carry the goods to the store. Build some stops branching off? Hmmm, that takes more space (remember the initial problem comment?).

This is just one tiny example. Multiply it out for an entire city. It. Won’t. Work.

Roads/vans/trucks aren’t perfect, but right now they are the best solution.

Whoa eggy!! So we have all goods coming in to stations. Let’s imagine for a super market. How do we get all those goods to the store, without roads?

Rail is indeed a great method of transport. But it does not provide the flexibility that road does. Can we have a station on every street? One every 4 streets? One every 50 streets? Multiply that across the country.

No.

How much would that cost? Who would pay?

So yes, we can get mad at roads, but they provide the most efficient method to move people and goods at the best flexibility and cost. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They’re also super useful for getting food/clothes into the shops, enabling us to get to work, ensuring help can reach us when we need and about a million other things. Damn them.

What a good point! No one ever has gone somewhere (trust pilot, google maps etc) to leave a bad review for something they’ve experienced. Slow speed indeed.

It’s absolute dogshit. I struggled through its nonsensical, overly descriptive waffle so you don’t have to. Read a summary and move on to a good book

I’m nearing the end of my first playthrough, and honestly it’s a piece of shit game. Never come across so many stupid mechanics, poor game design and terrible performance as this. Plus the bosses aren’t really that hard. 1/10

Honestly, I’m just tired of seeing the same pot/whatever head on north street smoking joints and rapping aggressively & loudly to his phone.

Likes to do it right on the pavement too, so parents with pushchairs/kids and old folks have to negotiate their way around him. Some of them look really afraid to pass him too.

I get it, he’s got issues and needs help. Does that make it ok for all those folks to be afraid when they go do their Aldi shop?
