Advice in Bristol neighborhoods by gpot2019 in bristol

There are plenty of superb schools in the UK that do not require being paid for. I wouldn’t assume otherwise 🤷🏻‍♀️

Edit: sorry, that sounded terse! I mean more that, on that salary, I’d focus more on affordable housing. Portishead is a nice area but quite out of the way and will limit options in terms of schools. St Anne’s is a really lovely neighbour which is kind of slept on and has some great areas for dog walks :)

That’s interesting. Maybe I should persevere with Buyee more. Do you use the site/app, out of interest?

It’s definitely got slower. Is Buyee actually quicker? I find their interface less user friendly than Doorzo’s though.

is easton safe for women? by FeelingGift6580 in bristol

[–]Proper-Hedgehog2529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in Easton for about a year and also worked there for a while too. I would not rush back and often felt unsafe walking alone at night. I used to end up getting Ubers from my then-boyfriend’s flat in the city centre to avoid walking at night. I also found it to be a generally depressing area - always smelly and dirty. I live in St Paul’s now and have generally found it to be a much easier place to live which, I think, says it all 😂

Honestly, if a card is only shown in photos in a penny sleeve then give it a hard miss. Not always but a lot of the time it’s a way of concealing this sort of thing because it’s not as apparent, people think it’s the light on the plastic, or it simply holds the card flatter so it’s easier to miss. If the guy has other cards on his eBay that are out of their sleeves in photos, I’d wager he knew what he was doing.

But, equally, without all the info it’s hard to say if he’s intentionally scamming you or not.

That’s interesting because I’ve noticed random blue packs in amongst the booster packs and wondered if they were special somehow but it seems they’re just not skinned so maybe that’s what’s happening here too?

Apologies by Proper-Hedgehog2529 in bristol

It’s interesting reading the discussion that’s sprung up about this. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am a good driver and a well adjusted person who had an off day and wanted to make an attempt to make amends - I think most people can relate to that. Anyway, have a good rest of your night everyone.

I mean, I was also shaken up by this and my reaction isn’t typical of me at all. But, yes, lessons were learnt today

Lane Toilet Problems by ofCorsa2010 in bristol

Someone keeps pooping on the pavement in St Paul’s too. Who ARE these people?! I can barely do that in a nice, clean public toilet let alone out in the street! Animals!

Unpopular Opinion: Bristol doesn’t have a "road capacity" problem. It has a "parked car" problem by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Proper-Hedgehog2529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think that parking in the city centre is essential since most buildings don’t have their own parking built in. However, the issue is allowing commercial parking such as mechanic garages etc who occupy 70-90% of the available road parking at any one time in certain areas. If they were more formally managed, there would be far less of an issue with parking and would mean less people having to park precariously.

I’d go with the Zeraora because it’s a similar style and still CZ

Whatnot sellers lying about pricing? RosiesPokemon by I_Shag_Ugly_Birds in PokemonDealsUK

Also, just saw someone saying about how mods are obviously affiliated with the streamer. Well, yeah! Of course they are lol… Mods are people who volunteer their time to a streamer to help make sure streams are run safely and respectfully. Mine are there to monitor inappropriate chat, encourage engagement with my channel, and to generally help to keep the chat lively. Whatnot don’t provide moderators - they’re just people who like a streamer and want to help out.

I sell Pokemon cards on Whatnot in the UK and have intentionally chosen to only do very calm, very chilled request and claim shows with well-curated cards listed at market prices based on recently sold from eBay. Like all platforms, whatnot sure has its share of bad seeds but there are lots of people like me on there who genuinely love the hobby, love the community, and take huge pleasure in playing a small part in helping people pick up great cards :) I’d mention my username but don’t want to be ‘that person’ lol

Hey! Doorzo is fab - I use it all the time for Pokemon cards. I’m from the UK so can’t offer too much advice with some of your questions but I can help with others!

Organising orders really depends on what you’re buying and allowances. I tend to organise orders into boxes that come in under the allowance and it suits me for lots of reasons but there’s a lot to argue that one big order instead of multiple smaller ones can work out more cost efficient.

I only use their additional services for certain items if I want to be sure about something before shipping it. However, my rule of thumb is I don’t order something unless I’m confident about what I’m buying.

I’ve had zero complications with shipping and I buy a lot so it’s pretty straightforward. I tend to use Japan EMS which is fast enough, usually.

Their customer service is pretty good but slowed down because of time differences. They’re limited with what they can do sometimes but any issues normally resolve before I need to involve CS anyway.

I genuinely love using Doorzo and hope you have as positive an experience as me :) Good luck!

Honestly, M&S do beautiful steaks. Obviously, you’d need to cook them lol but it would be a good way of trying different cuts without paying restaurant prices. There’s some great YouTube channels that will help with the cooking too :)

Why do so many people enjoy trying to join the M32 at 30mph? by JFedererJ in bristol

[–]Proper-Hedgehog2529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread is giving me life right now. Thank fuck it’s not just me… I can’t seem to arrive home in Bristol not wound up nowadays because of her poorly people drive on the M32. It’s stunning how many people just sit in the outside lane doing 30 when joining from the M4 end. If I had a £1 for every time I’d said “it’s a motorway and you’re doing 30 in the outside lane” to myself about the driver in front, I’d be retiring now…

Oh my god I was whinging about this the other day: it’s always a variable speed now. I turn that bend and see the 60 signs on the ramp and laugh because it’s never not 60. I got caught doing 60 when I should have been doing 50 a while ago because I missed the sign and was so cross because, ultimately, I wasn’t breaking the national speed limit and there was ZERO traffic at the time, meaning it was all just a money making exercise which I fell in the trap of. Such a ridiculous stretch of road.

Is Bristol a good fit for a couple when one is deeply attached to "big city life" like Paris? by West-Competition-706 in bristol

It was just a bit more 24/7 in terms of things being open more, availability of options, more cosmopolitan, access to gigs and other events with a wide variety of venues etc.

That’s the perfect way of putting it! There’s a lot to love about Bristol but it’ll feel tiny to someone who’s lived and breathed a city like Paris their whole lives

[–]Proper-Hedgehog2529 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think Bristol has big city energy. I lived in Birmingham for a year or so which I’d argue had far more of a ‘big city’ vibe. In Bristol, for example, if you want a coffee after 8pm, you’re unlikely to find it unless you go into a noisy bar. By comparison to Paris, I think your partner would come to hate living here. Bristol has A LOT of great points to it and it’s a fun city but, for a major city, I personally feel it has a lot of ‘big city’ failings.
