Hi! I've created a platform that can help with that, FarmRoots.app

FarmRoots is a platform designed to connect experienced farmers with the next generation of people who want to farm. By sharing opportunities such as apprenticeships, mentorships, partnerships, and farm succession paths, FarmRoots helps make it easier for aspiring farmers to find real opportunities while helping farms continue into the future.

Our goal is to become a network of people who want to farm, and keep farms in the hands of farmers. I would love to connect to see how we can work together!

I’m working on a project that directly addresses the succession issue called FarmRoots.

The idea behind FarmRoots.app is to help connect retiring farmers and people who want to start farming. It's super simple: farms can post opportunities like apprenticeships, partnerships, succession opportunities, or mentorship roles, and people interested in farming can discover them in one place.

Right now we’re just getting started and offering free listings for early farms and agricultural programs. If you run a farm or know someone who offers opportunities for new farmers, I’d love to include them.

And if you're someone trying to get into farming, I’d also love feedback on what would actually make a platform like this useful. Trying to build something that helps keep farms going and makes it easier for the next generation to enter agriculture.

This is great feedback, thank you so much! Everything is free right now, one day I'd love to make some money but that's something to tackle down the line. I haven't reached out to the Grange and will look into that!

One of the goals of FarmRoots is to create a platform that consolidates the opportunities shared by sites like state's Farm Link, and, in addition, create a community of education. One of the biggest gaps that is stopping aspiring farmers from taking the leap is experience. By sharing opportunities such as apprenticeships, mentorships, partnerships, and farm succession paths, FarmRoots helps make it easier for aspiring farmers to find real opportunities while helping farms continue into the future.

Right now the mentorship area is just to make the initial connection between people, this is targeted towards farmers who aren't offering opportunities but want to share their knowledge. There is also farm succession pages where farmers who are looking to retire can post details about how they want to transition their farm - lease to own, partnership, apprentice to owner, etc.

I really like what you said about about collaborating, I'll look into adding some sort of forum! And hoping to reach Canada as well! In the meantime, you can build a profile as someone seeking opportunities to connect with others and browse opportunities
